I was so excited to learn about the white bassist who crossed the railroad tracks in Asbury Park in 1964 to jam with the west side's Black musicians at a time when that just wasn't done. This kid was named Garry Tallent. One of his new jam mates was Clarence Clemons. In a few years these two would join Bruce Springsteen to launch the E Street Band.
I wrote this song "Come Across the Tracks" to mark the occasion.

New live recording on Bandcamp: "Come Across the Tracks" - performed in Asbury Park, NJ, the town the song is about. Two then-future members of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band broke the de facto segregation of Asbury Park's music scene to open up new musical possibilities down the shore.

Giveaway! Win a handwritten lyric sheet for my new song "Come Across the Tracks!"
It's a celebration of a profound (and overdue) moment of change for Asbury Park, NJ in the 60s, brought about by a couple of musicians who would later join Bruce Springsteen to form the first lineup of the E Street Band.
Drawing is Friday, March 7. Good luck!
Nice! Some @jasondidner on WXPN Kids Corner tonight!
Ooooh - I've already got one of those!
It's called "Lollipop Motel," inspired by a family stay in N. Wildwood, NJ!
Live from @Seahorse in #AsburyParkNJ - āCome Across the Tracksā - a song about the musicians who desegregated Asbury Parkās music scene and went on to form Bruce Springsteen ās E Street Band.

Iām in this struggle to hold the hard-earned (and unfinished) progress toward integration. Hereās a blog post I wrote about a simple act of forward thinking that impacted our culture. And a song I wrote about it: āCome Across the Tracks.ā
Thanks all who watched my live stream concert last night. It was a blast - my first streaming show in a long time! Here's "Come Across the Tracks" - a new one I played last night.

"Stop working when it switches to the dark theme" is the grown up version of "come home when the street lights come on."

This White House doesnāt care about free speech or informing the American people.
It cares about controlling the narrative by shutting out the press and punishing anyone who challenges it in even the smallest of ways.
All Americans should object to this unconstitutional ban on The Associated Press.
From late winter to early summer last year, renewables met 100% of Californiaās electricity demand for up to ten hours on 98 days. Not only were there no blackouts during this periodāthanks in part to backup battery powerābut at their peak, renewables provided up to 162% of the gridās needs. This story challenges one of the key arguments against clean energy: that renewables are unreliable and intermittent. Grist https://buff.ly/3WNti8n
