Honestly, the sheer number of people I know who have realised and/or been diagnosed with some version of neurospiciness in their 20s or 30s or later⦠imagine how much less hellish school could have been if we had had a bit of support.

Maybe if one in five kids has special educational needs, maybe the needs aren't really that special after all and maybe the education system could use some tweaking?
You know you can just not use AI, right?
You can make a choice not to be part of this.
Even if your job uses it, YOU donāt have to in your normal life. You donāt have to let your kids use it.
You didnāt have it three years ago. You can justā¦be on Team Human. You can choose.

There're few advantages to my annoying body, but access seating at gigs is definitely one
Here's a tip: if one or more people with some diagnosed neurodivergence is describing something and your first thought is "oh that's normal. Happens to me all the time!" Maybe um... just circle back on that thought and let it marinate instead getting up in a stranger's menchies about it.
Honestly kinda wish people would lay off on telling disabled folk that they can achieve their dreams and what not and just focus on removing all the fighting disabled folk have to do to just survive. Make survival easier (secure housing, secure income, safe and accessible healthcare) and then maybe we can do the inspirational chit chat about achieving dreams and shit like that?
Btw! Not everyoneās accessibility needs are the same! Whatās accessible for a blind person might not be accessible for me, someone whoās sighted & definitely hard of hearing but hasnāt went to a doctor about itā¦ā¦.
The same applies for every disability! Ik this is well known in disability-centered spaces, but the fedi isnāt directly disability-centered so it felt relevant to make a PSA about.
PSA: you're allowed to play and enjoy games on the easiest settings. This is your free time and you're not less of a gamer for playing games the way they are the most enjoyable for you.
Brought to you by me who has gotten back into Raft on the "peaceful" setting. I don't want to fight sharks, I just want to fish for resources and build. š¤·āāļø So that's what I'm doing.
anyway the main things i'd like people to be aware of about inflammatory arthritis, i spose:
- covid can trigger inflammatory autoimmune conditions such as arthritis. good luck convincing any specialist that this is what happened
- the treatments suppress the immune system but nobody at the rheumatologist office wears a mask
- people can be quite weird about this kind of illness. they don't want to be bummed out. they'll say 'let me know when you're feeling better and we'll do something' (you might not, for a long time)
- sometimes people will say they wish there was something they could do to help but when you say 'actually, i really need help cleaning my house' they will disappear
- everybody thinks they know what your problem is and if you would only go vegan/quit gluten/ juice cleanse/ smoke weed / etc, then you would be better.
- in fact, they think you're being ignorant and stubborn and are not looking for solutions.
- they think you are giving up and being a sheep by participating in the medical system
- they think that they have found the solution to not getting sick like you, therefore they must have thought of something you haven't thought of.
- you will find out how many people in your life feel this way and it will surprise you
Incoming rant.
Stop using AI/LLM tools. Just stop. Especially if you're using them as a lark.
I'm going to be my most judgemental self here. If you post something that's generated by a LLM, (you know, ChatGPT, Gemini, etc) I will assume:
You don't give a shit about stealing from artists/writers.
You don't give a shit about the earth burning up.
You don't give a shit about clean, drinkable water.
You don't give a shit about people & their creative work.
for #PrideMonth this year, can cis straight people focus less on ālove is love š«¶ š³ļøāš ā and more on āqueer and trans people are in dangerā
We're out-out, again!
Chicago this time
Since moving to Cardiff I've been incredibly busy. Uni, work, 2 choirs and being able to easily get to venues means I have very little downtime now (this was the plan and it's awesome!)
It does mean I keep forgetting how much I like to draw, but I saw this photo of my brother and his wife, and knew I had to do it š„°
@jenblacker I have a set or two of the texture stickers left if anyone seeing this post also would want some! Sharing is caring š
Remember back in the heady early days of the internet, when you could meet lovely people and they'd do lovely things just because?
I got gifted some stickers, and I've made a vow to stick them places and not just horde them, so a few are already on my choir notebook!!
And sensory stickers, highly recommended these if you're a haptic feedback fidgeter
Thanks so much @silhelm , reciprocal post incoming shortly!
A thought for trans allies in this time:
You often ask us what you can do to help. Well, here's something you can do. Wear trans badges, buttons, pins, scarves, whatever you've got. Explicitly. I wanna see that blue and pink EVERYWHERE.
Because the more of you cis folk do that, the safer we will be in crowds and such. It will mean that wearing a badge of support for trans people doesn't necessarily out that person as trans.
"But wait," you're thinking maybe, "if I do that, people might think *I* am trans!"
Well, why is that a problem for you? Would you be offended by someone thinking you might be trans? Would you be scared? Welcome to our world.
This is your time, cis people. You were all ready to call yourselves allies when it didn't matter more than changing your PFP background. Now the rubber meets the road. We need you. We need your help to normalise our existence to other cis people. It could save lives.
If someone accuses you of being trans (imagine being *accused* of existing while trans?), don't deny it. Ask why it matters to them. Keep calm.
