2) While there were howls of outrage and anguish emanating from the GOP about their position on #SocialSecurity, #Medicare, #Medicaid, it's not hard to find party leaders who intend to destroy one of the key components of America's social infrastructure. Here is Senator Mike Lee of Utah in action with an unambiguous assertion

@benizi Did your toilet have a stack overflow?

@AgileBob Yes, I see now. I was viewing "problem" as an external event happening to the team; not as a problem associated with the product to be solved by the team. Thanks for your patience in responding.

@AgileBob I'm sorry; I wasn't clear. You said, "in the complex space, there may be no way to know earlier." This is most likely true when a problem is a one-off (eg occurs only once or rarely). However, if it's a recurring problem, then it's possible to analyze the pattern of behavior and build a system to predict and prevent the problem in the future. The question: is it worth investing in this work. Eg, the recent Twitter whistle-blower revealed that code testing is often performed in production systems. This can lead to other problems in a complex space. It's possible to build a pre-prod system where most tests are conducted. I have built such systems in big data, IoT, and fintech spaces. It requires having the culture, will, or both. To bring this toot full circle, "we should have known that earlier" is blame-adjacent to "why didn't _you_ know this earlier." I prefer a blame-free "why didn't we know this earlier" and "can we know earlier in the future" approach.

@msdisme Fortunately this cold snap will be over by tomorrow.

@AgileBob I see your point for complex (and simple for that matter) problems that are one-off or have a low frequency. If, however, a problem occurs regularly and has a big impact on the business or product, then it'd be worth investing in mitigation work to create an early-warning system. I'm curious, do you have any specific experience with a complex problem that didn't lend itself to mitigation efforts?

An independent examiner just spent months interviewing employees, reviewing financial statements, and digging through the wreckage of the company once known as Celsius. It doesn't look good.

@dhrystone Yeah...you've discovered the link to tab feature only works for the same file in 2 tabs. The use case is to have 1 tab in Preview mode and the other in Edit mode.

btw, do you a compare plugin with Notepad++? I haven't seen a similar plugin for Obsidian...unless the file is stored in Git or Obsidian Sync.

@dhrystone Do you use a side-by-side tool now? That's probably still your best solution. If not, check out some of the ideas in this StackOverflow thread: unix.stackexchange.com/questio

@AgileBob A more productive (yet similar) question is "Why didn't we know this earlier? How can we surface this earlier next time? Is this work worth implementing?" These are standard questions in a well-run root cause analysis.

@Rjdlandscapes Thank you. Staying warm for 2+ hours in 25F weather was the hardest part. But worth it imho.

The cowardly College Board capitulated to the demands of the right. But there’s a larger question at work here we need to understand: how the curriculum wars are really a war about Black identity and power. statuskuo.substack.com/p/half-
