I very much get a "we just discovered radium and want to put it in everything" vibe from this whole generative AI bubble.
(Including the thing where companies used to slap the word "radium" on existing products even though they thankfully did not actually have any radioactive materials. Like "radium butter".)
Yesterday I discovered that not only do #crows distinguish between people, but also between #cats.
There's a neighborhood cat whose presence is always announced by the outraged crows yelling and swooping at him. But they pay no attention to our cat, even if he's walking right by them. i can only assume that the other cat has menaced them or their nests in some way, and Stanley never does that.
Anyway, yesterday three crows were standing quietly on our driveway apron looking at Stanley, as he sat looking back at them and meowing chattily from no more than 10 feet away.
To Stanley, a #bird is a person if he's ever seen us talking to it. I've spoken to scrub #jays, #hummingbirds and crows in his presence, and since then I've seen him talk to them as well.
@pjf shhh! Don't tell my middle kid!
@leaf see? You just need currentFreezerCount + 1
@leaf oh, that's simple. Costco sells some nice chest freezers.
Das nenne ich mal action shot! Sie hat eine Erdnuss im Schnabel, aber den Schnabel offen! 🤯
#Adobe just raised its prices, some are over US$100 a month 😬

@ajsadauskas It's a trap! Not an inviting cushion! Do not sit!
@joncruz Mitch Davis from
Polar Filament was on the Making Awesome podcast, and he was talking in detail about the work that had been done to reverse engineer the BambuLab RFID stuff.
IIRC he was calling for a manufacturer to be a first mover and make whatever they wanted a standard and capture the market.
@RichiH others get sold RFID as a way to DRM their products :-(
@clarfonthey in slightly related news, did you see that Elegoo just open sourced their filament spool RFID standard?
Given that last year Bambu Labs tried to lock theirs down and it was quickly hacked, this might be Elegoo taking a shot across their bow. A tiny thing, but could be a foot in the door.
So, what do people think of #Elegoo going #OpenSource with their #RFID solution for filament tracking?

@Gord Tholian Web!!!
Nicely done
Really impressed with how these multicolor coasters came out. It makes me not want to use them as coasters #3dprinted
@teotwaki @WriterOfMinds I had been using ball bearings. At some point, I added some simple roller sleeves that fit over the 608 bearings. Trying to remember what was optimal
@skykiss having been a MANPAD team lead back in the day, much respect to her!
She's manifesting that hit on an incoming enemy missile and saves innocent lives.
Moment of golden energy.
Incredible video posted by the #Ukrainian Air Force showing soldier Natalia Hrabarchuk shooting down a cruise missile using an “Igla” MANPADS during today's attack.
It was her first combat launch. Former kindergarten teacher.
