I live in Colorado and take a lot of pictures of mountains, forests, creeks and rivers, lakes, gardens and flowers, and also lots of photos of my dog companion Penelope Jean Stumpwagger.

A natural occurring #monochromatic world thanks to the #snow. I noticed something seemed odd about that particular snow storm, but didn’t realize until looking at the photo later on that it was because of the complete lack of color. #weather #photography #winter
This photo shows a snow-covered road lined with trees that are also covered in snow. It's a winter scene, likely in a rural or forested area.

Every year I love to grow #Sunflowers and this year I decided to #grow some unusual sunflowers in my #garden. Foolishly I misplaced the list and locations of all the different varieties I planted, so I have no idea which one this guy is, but damn is it stunning! The photo doesn’t really do it justice, in person it appears almost completely black until you get right in its face.
A close up of a very tall and very dark red sunflower that has speckled yellow pollen in the center with bright green leaves and an old red wooden fence in the background.

We picked up this new #boardgame called “Fire Tower” that’s pretty fun! Up to four players, but you can play with only two. Each player round you must place a “fire gem” on the board in the direction that wind is blowing (which is determined by rolling for it) and you have a cards in hand as well that allow for various defensive and offensive actions. Basically you must keep the fire from consuming your watch tower!
A board game titled with a top down view of a forest of uniform pine trees. There are four fire watch towers, one in each corner.

A decade ago I took an unexpected adventure to Palo Duro Canyon in the panhandle of Texas for the first time. I honestly didn’t know much about it and did not know what to expect. I had been to the Grand Canyon a couple times in the past, so I didn’t expect to be wowed by Palo Duro. I was wrong. It happens to only be second to the Grand Canyon in North America and it’s quite beautiful there.

It is a rocky, desert environment.A panoramic image of the Palo Duro canyon with a rainbow.Down in the a canyon a strange geological rock formation is seen.A black and white photograph of a smirking man (me) sitting on a rock in a canyon playing acoustic guitar.

I was scrolling through your feed and instantly knew where these photos were taken, The Salton Sea is such a strange and recognizable place in its desolation. Lovely photos.

I absolutely love #pumpkin #flowers.
A single pumpkin flower amidst vines and leaves in a pumpkin patch. It is large and orangish yellow and is very soft and floppy.

A lovely and very large and #tropical looking rosemallow #flower I found while walking the dog. This thing was as big as my face! I’m totally gonna plant them in my yard next year.
A large pink flower with soft petals and a red and yellow inner area. Deep red veins run through the floppy pink petals. The flower is surrounded by lush green leaves.

While on a road trip up to Denver I stopped at a truck stop on I25 and in the distance to the east there was a massive storm system. I could see it on the entire drive and it never really appeared to get closer or further away. Once it started getting dark the whole thing was lit by flickering lightning.
A massive cloud bank above some parked semi trucks in the distance.

Two things from my #backyard.

1. I grow #roses and this is an exceptionally large yellow, white, and pink #rose that popped up over night!

2. I did not grow the #mountain, but I thought it looked really great presently.
Two roses in full bloom, one of them is mostly yellow while the other is shades of pink, white, and yellow.A huge white and yellow rose! It looks very soft and velvety.A massive flat top mountain shrouded in shadow, but the small town below is covered in sunshine. The sky is densely cloudy, but there are wisps of blue sky visible throughout.

Went to a #carnival last night for the first time in more than a decade. I had forgotten about these rides! I use to love riding these things when I was a kid.
A carnival ride called “Mega Loop”. It is based on silly a giant circle with rail cars on the inside of it that spins people around in a loop. Like a roller coaster that is only a loop. The “Starship 3000” ride. It’s a big squashed can shaped thing that riders get inside of and then it spins them around in circles until they are sick. There are many multicolored lights all over the outside of the contraption.

Only 10,000 of these #Apple #Macintosh #TV #computers were manufactured and now I have one! Someone gave this to me today. I have no idea if it works or not, I just finished giving a little bit of a cleaning and hooked everything up. Damn, I wanted one of these *so bad* in 1993 when I had just turned 13. I’ll be attempting to boot momentarily…

This is my best #friend, Penny. I’ve posted her big crazy eyes before, but I think this is the first time I’ve posted her whole #face.

#blackandwhite #DogsOfMastodon #Dogs #EyeContact
A super mutt dog with bright gray and intense eyes staring directly into your soul (I mean camera). She has mottled fur, a big black, rubbery, nose, and is the smartest creature I associate with. She has her ears slicked back presently.

There really is a very specific smell that a biome like this has. Especially when the sun is shining. Certain evergreens have almost a sweet cinnamon scent that gets mixed in as well. I can spend days absorbing these places.

Ha! Not that one… “The falls were named after Helen Maria Hunt Jackson who lived in the 1800s and was buried in Colorado Springs. She was a U.S. poet, writer, and activist for Native American Rights.”
