Massive demonstration for Gaza and against genocide today in Brussels.

75.000 participants according to the police, and 110.000 according to organisers.

Inspired by the Dutch sister demo, β€œDraw a Red Line for Gaza” was the largest demonstration in Belgium for years.

A massive demonstration of red-clad people extending far into the distance. In the front centre, a woman takes a selfie with the demo. Some trees and tall buildings to the side. A domed building, the Brussels Justice Palace, in the far distance centre

In a flash of a moment
Decorating my dignity
In glorious muddy water
Car culture in a nutshell
Defiling and murdering
Untold beings all around
An unrelenting daily ritual
Of mud bath and blood bath
But it's supposed to be okay
Because they didn't mean it

Soon came the gray car
Hurtling at sound speed
Too fast to prepare those
Not inside that metal cage
Passing within a meter of me
On that generous puddle
Of black and muddy water
A great many mugs of which
Came splashing on my face
And as a bonus, torso and legs

Mud bath, blood bath

Vienna by the day
Graz by midnight
We got off the train
And took the bus
We got off the bus
And started walking
On that opportune
Narrow footpath

Modhera solar village in Gujarat is a good example. They even managed a price point ($1.6 million/MW) much lower than my pessimistic estimate ($3 million/MW).

1MW solar (with 5MWh battery) costs $3 million.

$6 billion (INR 500 billion) can hence pay for 2GW solar.

That's 1% of installed coal power capacity of ~200GW. Private investments & businesses can put in funds 5-10x that annual spending. Chipping off 5% a year reaches zero coal in 20 years.

Cutting down drastically on coal subsidies would perhaps be a good starting point to fund the required energy transition. It also helps that solar is now the cheapest form of electricity in all of human history.

At 786 gCO2eq/kWh, eastern India's carbon intensity of electricity is abysmal. It's only marginally better for the rest of India.

Two types of #degrowth:

Do you want degrowth via environmental destruction and resulting supply chain issues and economic crisis, OR degrowth via planned scaling down of unnecessary consumption?

@sad_electronics That's deep! In other words: A high SNR on one channel could mean low SNR on neighbouring channels. One man's signal is another man's noise.

Thanks to @FediFollows, we got a lot of new followers this week.

So here's an #Introduction [1/5]

The Open Power Electronics or β€˜Opelex’ project began in 2015 with the objective of giving engineering students exposure to #PowerElectronics, and with a special focus on free and open-source tools, practices, and materials.

@corruptian The real revelation was that such bullshit jobs are present as much, if not more, in the private sector as in the government sector.

Finished reading David Graeber's #BullshitJobs.

Main takeaway:
While official #unemployment numbers in a 'healthy' #economy is 3-8%, the real numbers (considering the phenomenon of bullshit jobs) is 50-60%.
