@leigh_hackspace were asked to print several
sets of terrain for the Tabletop Tavern Warhammer players. Used 3DQF Battleship Grey PLA, and ended up using every printer available,and several home printers. Finished with hours, *hours* to spare.

On the plus side, we now know the faults and tuning needed on every printer.

That's the roof done.

Been a busy weekend.

Finished putting the roof on the new pod at @leigh_hackspace. We're almost done with this build. Far pod is rented, near pod is being used for metalworking (for now).

The build has been a group effort, and workshops should be back to their usual dysfunctional state, as opposed to the current non-functional state by the end of the week.

Main space, electronics, Pi room and social room are all still available.

@leigh_hackspace refurbished this Santa sleigh for AIM North West.

We stripped it back to wood, added a roof, cut the side away (with reinforcements), designed and cut a new reindeer, repainted, added upholstery, then added 12V audio and lights.

It's loud.

A few more bits to finish when it's dry, but it's now out on rounds.

This turned in to a full Hackspace project, with input from lots of members.

This Saturday at Leigh Spinners Mill is the next event day at the mill! We have a Christmas maker's market, food, music, Santa's grotto, and more! Plus our Hackspace is open for you to come along, have a tour, and join us as a member.

Does your childhood smell like 8 bit, 16 bit or even 32 bit? Yearn for square pixels in a resolution you can see? We're going to bring in all our old systems (Spectrums, Commodores, Ataris, even some vintage Macs) and hook them up for people to play with. Most will have fast loading and an array of games to choose from.

In our classroom, we're going to be running a LAN party, with a bunch of 2000s era games through the day. OpenArena (Quake 3), Unreal Tournament, Red Alert, Dune 2000 and Worms Armageddon. Win, lose, all done in the same room as your co-players.

We ask players to bring their own headphones or earphones with a standard 3.5mm jack. (Bluetooth headphones are not supported)

Doors open at 11am, LAN party games will change every hour, and a casual drop-in, drop-out approach.

Code of Conduct will be displayed and will apply to all players.

Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Refreshments available on site.

This week we have GeekUp Leigh on Thursday night 7:30pm onwards. Pizza and good chat. Bring your geek.

Saturday we have our next open day. 10-4pm. Come see what we do. Come meet some makers. Have a wander around the mill to see what we all have to offer.

Geekup Leigh will happen on the 30th October at @leigh_hackspace, starting at 1900. Free pizza of various types will be provided, and a fully stocked tuck shop for soft drinks and other snacks will be available.

GeekUp is a community of web designers, web developers, and other tech-minded folk from the UK. It's a grassroots knowledge sharing and networking social for folks involved or interested in the web and technology industry.

We're not running talks, but we would love people to come and show off what they've been doing since 2015.

Old timers are warmly received and we would really love to see new faces as well.

Shoutout to @leigh_hackspace, a member of which came along to my book launch last night, bought a copy for the hack space, and asked me to inscribe it for the community there.

Naturally I wrote HACK THE PLANET.

Hack spaces are such an essential community service - and will go a long way to helping keep us all in good repair when corporate infrastructure fails us.

Laser cut, hand stitched leather case for #tangara music player from material found at @leigh_hackspace.

Ok peeps, hit me up with hot glue gun recommendations.

If it can run cordless, that's a bonus.

@adamjsy yesterday we added the head. All the skeleton parts are in 3mm laser ply, with joints made up of bike inner tubes, woven tape, and lots of rubber glue. It's covered in brown paper and PVA glue atm, but will be skinned in cardboard by the end of this week.
