A member of my local maker space board of directors casually mentioning on the discord channel that we are getting a couple more 3D printers. 😂
These are Bambu A1 minis. We have 2 X1C's that are seeing a lot of use, so the thinking is that we can expand the 3D printing capacity a bit with the minis for simple one color prints.

It's been about two years since our 400 citizen village opened its own #makerspace because of a big grant from the council. Everybody is warming up slowly to new methods of DIYing. But I like how naturally some now produce decorations for the Christmas market with the laser cutter, fix light chains and other devices in a spontaneous repair cafe and print hooks to hang holiday lights on the village hall.

Very cool: Using a CNC router to create a linocut, in order to do printmaking. I'm excited to do this mission one day, when my CNC router is back online.
Finally I installed a Meshtasic node on the roof of our makerspace. Anybody experience with a that long antenna cable for a heltec-d3? I've got weird status icons on the longfast public chat. But at least someone replied with "test ok". #meshtastic #makerspace

Having two #kids at the age where could start to make things, I've been thinking about how to introduce them to #making stuff.
At the same time I'm wondering what to do with them in a make/hackspace or -camp situation. Are the making-related coloring books out there? Possibly even "open source" / CC licensed? Or more generic kids books on making stuff?
I first thought about this when wanting to take the kids to #vow summer camp, to organize something to do for them while we were there (which ultimately didn't happen). Then I heard of Nick Offerman's new book which triggered this once more. I know there are child areas at #ccc events but I couldn't find any more details as to what happens there exactly. Maybe someone can elaborate?
Tomorrow "REMO" in March are launching their #MakerSpace and "Workspace Pods"... March in the middle of the Fens is an interesting spot for something like that and will be interesting to see what they have there. I gather there is #3DPrinter and #CNCRouter stuff. Unfortunately not really in scope for us to make use of it at the moment due to life and stuff, it's a little far away to be casually useful (20 minute drive from home, not terrible, but I don't really have spare time.)
Exciting times! After years of hard work planning, fundraising and renovating we are very excited to announce that REMO Makerspace Memberships and REMO Workspace Pods Rentals will be available from the 1st of December.
We will be hosting an open day on Saturday the 29th of November.
