I wonder if anyone would be willing to share their favorite legal dispensaries by mail with me. I have recently bought the Cycling Frog microdose mints but when I went back for a refill, I see they are out, with no suggestion of when they might have them again ☹️

Maybe if we start calling it Unborn Baby Earth instead of Mother Earth republicans will be more concerned with its well-being.

@jordanlafordan Thank you! I'm really loving "A Memory Called Empire"--so satisfying and complex!

In America, the penalty for accidentally getting near a stranger is death.

This policy was created by the “Pro-Life” party.

What are some Mastodon accounts that are particularly good on politics, policy and public health? Looking to find more folks to follow, and would love recommendations!

I'm almost finished with "A Memory Called Empire" by Arkady Martine, which is just great. What should I read next?? Help an indecisive Libra out.

@5ciFiGirl

So I was at the bookstore today, and while they didn't have Triffids or Chrysalids, they had The Midwich Cuckoos--so I picked it up and have been reading it all afternoon! Have you read it? It's the one "Village of the Damned" was based on (which I've never seen).

@manateacake

It also occurs to me that post-apocalypse can be divided into two categories: a recent event and the immediate aftermath (Triffids), or a long ago event and a new order of society. (Nausicaa & Chrysalids) 🤔

@manateacake

I just noticed that my two recommendations (Nausicaa & Chrysalids) have something in common: hope for new beginnings! 😄 And both have some people who are trying to hold on to the past, and others who are willing to reach for the future! 😎

(I'm curious what you will think of them, but I don't want to pressure you. 😉 )

What is your favorite #StarTrek friendship? Thought of this question during that scene with B'Elana and Harry, who have got to be mine.

@5ciFiGirl Thanks for providing all this context! I have not picked up Chrysalids or Day of the Triffids yet but the idea of a Ray of hope definitely appeals--that's what I loved about Station Eleven. Right now I'm reading Rosewater by Tade Thompson, which is pretty dark. But it also has some really interesting world building and the main character has a lot of charisma. And we just watched the Ascension episode of SG-1, which I liked. I like the Carter episodes a lot.
