@ai6yr @epicdemiologist yes, this change is no good - I was more responding to the comment above saying that $2 isn’t enough to come into work - just wanted to clarify how tipped minimums work, since it’s a confusing topic

@ai6yr @epicdemiologist my (weak?) understanding of the law is that the employer still has to cover up to “normal” minimum wage if the tips don’t reach minimum wage on their own. I’m not saying this is good! Or that minimum wage is a living wage!

But no one is going home with $2/hour. They still get paid at least minimum wage (either via tips or the employer covering the difference).
