Measuring "PRs per dev" (presumably conditioned on the same unit of time even though what that rate is is very unclear to me whenever this measure is proposed) is really giving "number of patients per doctor's day" I can't be the only person who feels this way

On Tuesday evening, I had fun with a people from Agile Ottawa, we covered: "AI Magic Beans: Friend or Foe". We created a simple set of guidelines to help see if the AI is helping or harming your team. The exercise was to evaluate descriptions of real products and their AI, to see if this helps or not.

See the guidelines and examples agilepainrelief.com/blog/why-a (all examples are derived from real products)

Yeah Stephen's on it.

I would love to see Jony Ive back in his prime, creating technology that changes everything and makes the world a better place. But I don't think AI is ready for this right now, and fixing that is not a hardware problem.

Sure, strive to be better than you were

Signal have rolled out an update to all users that stops Microsoft Recall from capturing Signal conversations.

I’ve tested this and it works. Brilliant work by the @signalapp team. 💪

They call on Microsoft to build better, as there was no standardised way as an app developer to do this. Because Signal is open source, now app developers have a template to protect their users from Windows.

@RakowskiBartosz quite likely. However, I’m trying to avoid bias towards the tools I know by default.

Working with a new client. I want to help them learn the basics of BDD in JavaScript world. Which Tool/Framework is the easiest for starting with?

(This is a learning environment, not a long term commitment. I prioritize ease of starting over most other reasons)

Please repost so I get a wider audience.

The thing I hate most about AI, in the current era:

Google, DDG, Bing, etc. are all now effectively worthless on the first 2-3 pages, for most of my queries having to do with *anything* general.

Even specific queries like 'smart outlet energy consumption card HA'.

The problem is AI slop; there are thousands of websites (even some old venerable sites that were sold off) that just have "that exact query as a web page", but the results are AI generated, and have no helpful information inside.

@geerlingguy I'm starting to rely much more heavily on peer groups than I ever did.

Group chats are solving more problems than Google at the moment and that has the added benefit of talking with friends! :)

I'm starting to really like 'vibe coding'...

I've now had several clients come to me to take over projects that another agency was working on because the other agency started using generative AI. Apparently there was a real drop in product quality. I wonder why.

Basically vibe coding is making me money specifically because I'm not using it.
