@darwinwoodka @mcnado @ai6yr how tragic is it that as GenX, almost everyone in my friend group has a suicide plan for their “golden years”. None of us expect to be able to retire like the boomers did, none of us expect social security to be there, most of assume we will be bankrupted by our boomer parents who need care we can’t afford, the rest of us have kids that can’t make it without our support, and honestly, death before dementia is our best hope.
I may be having a difficult day. 🤷🏻♀️

Every day I wonder if there is no such thing as experts. Just a bunch of people with a bit more experience and a load of opinions you can't argue with because you don't know what they know. I reckon I've watched enough House to be a halfway decent doctor. And I am 100% sure I could solve crimes. Just give me a chance, is what I'm saying.

Did I ever mention that I'd like to persuade the people who came up with "disappearing scrollbars" to consider a career outside of software development?
It may look very sleek, but it is a severe setback in usability of a GUI in my opinion.
Maybe I should just find out how to disable this in #gnome once and for all. Any hints on how to do this without spending way too much time on this?

It's not sustainable because it was ridiculously expensive (it would be way cheaper just to buy gold), required enormous resources, and it didn't last.
I will leave you to note the ways in which this is like the current boom in "artificial intelligence"…

The guitarist of The Smiths is called Johnny Marr, but is the guy so young he doesn't know who The Smiths are? Also for ages I thought his name might be a play on the French phrase “j'en ai marre” which means “I've had enough of this” but then someone told me that his real name is John Maher, but there was already a famous musician in Manchester where they come from, John Maher the drummer of the Buzzcocks, so he changed his name to avoid confusion. Is that true though? I should check on Wikipedia.
