When someone asks me what the #Fediverse, #Mastodon or #ActivityPub is I'll use this illustration from UNIX Review, April 1985.
Finn. Security Nerd. Dad. Quite tolerant, maybe even tolerable.
Hackerspace. CTFs. Security Management. ISO27001.

I miss the days when NFTs were the stupidest thing I'd ever heard of.

@askarel Greetings from Finland. Travelling in Brussels again next week. Planning to visit (maybe with son) HSBXL in Tuesday. Are you around?
So why do builders install fire safety systems?
I'll give you a hint: it isn't because they feel a strong need to protect you and your possessions from burning. When you figure that out, apply the same logic to this question: why don't online companies provide really strong security and privacy? I have some thoughts on that topic, and I'll encourage you to follow the link and read them.

@biffbiffbiff @Fringedcrow @jerry I’m sure Microsoft wouldn’t block competing social media platforms just for fun…
Getting warnings that streaming.infosec.exchange is detected as C2 by some blocklists (microsoft?). Anyone else seeing this behavior? cc @jerry
Today, we hit the streets with a major "And Then?" campaign in the UK, despite having faced strong opposition.
First, our TV ad "And Then?" was banned on British television.
And then, the outdoor ad campaign meant to criticise the TV ban was largely halted.
Here, you can watch the banned ads and explore the entire campaign.
25 years ago today, Bad_CRC posted the primordial meme video "All Your Base Are Belong To Us" on Newgrounds.
In honor of this important anniversary, I downloaded the original Flash SWF file from Internet Archive, played it using Ruffle in a full-screen window, and replaced the audio with the original MP3 of "Invasion of the Gabber Robots" by The Laziest Men on Mars. So this is probably the highest fidelity encoding possible, without going back to the original forum GIFs.

Disobey 2026 day 2 starting. Again whole day of good talks, great people, old and new friends.
Anyone around can recognize me from pink ’Disobey’ cap. There shouldn’t be many around.

Your data. Your feed. Your control.
The fediverse was built on communities, not corporations, deciding how they interact.
The Digital Services Act now brings that same accountability to the rest of the web.
The data isn't "deleted" if it's possible to "undelete" it 🙄
This is the correct takeaway from that reporting, yes.

"Seven students, five weeks, publicly available ship tracking tools, and a willingness to drive 2,500 kilometers on a hunch. They produced a more coherent picture of Germany’s and Netherlands drone mystery than months of official hand-wringing and coordinated stonewalling."
ope, guess its about that time
