@LordEdam thanks, it’s actually bad info from another photographer or misheard on my part. I referred to it as the Island of the Blessed but she corrected me 🙈. I’ll change it now.

Another from this week’s trip to the Island of the Blessed.

A white painted lighthouse stands on top of a rocky mound. A white path leads up to the lighthouse. The sea around the lighthouse is calm and flat. Across the sea a mountain can be seen slightly obscured by haze. The sun is setting to the right of the photo casting a golden hue across the scene.

Sunset at South Stack

This place always takes my breath away, mainly because it’s always incredibly windy and I have asthma.

It's getting easier to put paint on paper. Still doing pencil sketches to guide, but I feel like I'm getting my own style figured out.

Thanks to @TheEddieShow and @pgaskell for posting photos that caught my eye.

A seascape. The ocean washes up against sheer cliffs. Two buildings are just visible on the face. The label says "Bollatick Mines, Cornwall," which is wrong. It's Botallack Mines in Cornwall.A gas station roof is stark red and orange against a blue sky. The roof extends almost the entire way across the image, slicing the bottom third of the sky off. It is labeled 2:04 PM | 84 F.

A man and woman stand talking by the sea. The woman looks out to sea whilst the man turns to her. Immediately in front of them is a metal railing. The sand on the beach is golden and white waves break in an aquamarine sea.

@wilpercy it’s part of the Wordpress theme. Moving the menu affects all versions of the site. I think I might be able to resolve it by changing the opacity of the menu.

<edit> I think I've found the problem, thanks for flagging it. Not sure about the colour I've chosen but removes that glitch for now.

@Jlkeeton I can't remember when it last rained here. Your weather has been swapped with ours.

@elperronegro
Thanks.

The speed was my biggest frustration with my last website. It was a freebie with Lightroom. I was painfully slow.

@wilpercy

It looks very different on a tablet or computer. It looks like the drop down menu only appears on the phone template.

If I disable it it breaks the navigation on all devices. 🤔

I did add links further down to the content for a phone.

I started building a new website thinking it's be a couple of evenings work. Nope, it's taken a whole week. 🙄

The next weekend Storm Darragh hit. I made sure I was in the right location at high tide.

My next sunrise trip was a week later, the forecast wasn't ideal but I decided to risk an early morning at Bamburgh.

The first of the three is at the start of the blue hour, whilst the one with the dog is just before the sun was due to rise.

My favourite of these three being the dog walker shot.

A blue hour photo of a castle standing next to a beach. The sand on the beach is wet from the occasional wave that manages to reach quite a long way in land as the sand is so flat. The sun is rising behind the castle which is silhouetted against the colourful sky. The cloud which is being lit up by the sun is bright red and it resembles a fire with smoke.

The next Wednesday after my trip to Buttermere I made the effort to get up for sunrise at Steetley Pier in Hartlepool.

This trip generated a very colourful sunrise shot and two of my all time favourites, the pier remnants shots.

#rightTimeRightPlace #landscapephotography #eastCoastKin #seascape

A photo of a old wooden industrial pier during the sunrise blue hour. The sky is a kaleidoscope of orange, pink, blue, red and orange above the pier. The sky is partially reflected in a pool of sea water on the beach.

Whilst I was taking this my feet were slowly sinking in the sand which meant ice cold water was rushing into my walking boots.A long exposure photo of remnants of a pier that are standing upright as waves lap around them. The sun can be seen rising to the right of the frame casting a golden light on the scene as waves break in the foreground.A long exposure photo of remnants of a pier that are standing upright as waves lap around them. Back in November I made the decision to make much more effort to get the right conditions when out taking photos. I'd been a bit lazy before this. Whether that would mean more early mornings to catch a sunrise or timing a visit for the tide or weather.

This is a thread for the photos I captured as a result of that extra effort.

First up is my trip to Buttermere on a calm morning to catch the sun as it first drops into the valley.

A line of pine trees line the banks of a lake with a small white painted cottage at the far end. Behind are the lower slopes of a mountain (Haystacks). The trees are reflected in the perfectly still waters. Sunlight breaks through a gap in the mountains to backlight the trees.A line of pine trees line the banks of a lake with a small white painted cottage at the far end. The one thing I really like about this image is the calmness. In reality the wind was blowing a gale so I doubted whether I'd get a sharp image with such a long exposure.

Low Lighthouse - Burnham-on-Sea

This is an earlier shot than the one I shared on Monday. This was taken close to the lighthouse, it's a better shot but lacks the colour of the previous one.

#seascape #landscape #meerMittwoch #landscapePhotography

A wooden lighthouse on legs stands in shallow water just off the shore. The turbulent sea has been smoothed over with a 60 second exposure. The sun has set and the few clouds above the horizon are catching the last colour of the day.
