phpDocumentor main branch now has support for property hooks. If you are upgrading your codebase to #php84. Why not directly document what you did?

Now covered:

- virtual properties
- read only
- write only

To be added:

- properties on interfaces

phpDocumentor reflection is now able to detect virtual properties: github.com/phpDocumentor/Refle

The best thing? You don't have to run the code to do this reflection.

@norbert did you know btw phpDocumentor is able to render your markdown as well. We do use league/commonmark. The advantage on your side, just 1 template to maintain

@norbert thanks for mentioning that, any support is welcome.

I thought @phpdoc a new trick: github.com/phpDocumentor/phpDo

From now on you can add custom twig extensions to do more advanced mutations in your custom template. Documentation for this can be found at: docs.phpdoc.org/guide/features

Please not the extensions are still in development and not guaranteed in backward compatibility.

@phpdoc libraries are ready for php 8.4. We added php 8.4 to our pipelines. No additional changes are needed to run on this new version.

This doesn't mean we are ready to run phpDocumentor on php 8.4. and have support for all new features. But at least upstream dependencies are not blocked from upgrades.

We do nearly cross the boundary of 600 million downloads on phpDocumentor/typeresolver. A stunning total of ~1.2B downloads of all components together 🤯

Where our newest libraries focused on RST and Markdown documentation already have a share of 60k each.

These are numbers I could never have dreamed about when I joined the project 15 years ago. Thanks for your trust! Happy documenting.

Thanks to @jaapio and Lina Wolf, The Doctrine docs are now built with `phpDocumentor/guides` instead of `doctrine/rst-parser` 🎉
That will be one less thing to maintain for Doctrine in the future!

If you rely on `doctrine/rst-parser`, you should plan a similar move.

I migrated the phpDocumentor website to a new host Tilaa. Thanks @ingewikkeld for hosting our website for the past 6+ years.

On the website is now a space for all libraries I and contributors maintain. phpdoc.org/components.html more docs will be added for each component. And of course we build the documentation with our own tool.

#PHP Community, Joe Watkins (a.k.a. @krakjoe) needs our financial support to help him and his family. Joe is a longtime member of the community and PHP core developer, but he’s had to take a step back in recent years due to health problems, which have also prevented him from earning income.

Please consider giving. Any amount helps.
