@BigGayShaun you do right! I have to go back to Yorkshire sporadically to remember how to talk proper.
Punk dad, musician, teacher. From #Yorkshire but living in #Devon. I’m a fairly maudlin kind of a person generally so I apologise for that in advance.
My header picture is of some sand in a dune I took a photo of once, I used to be heavily into photography so it was a transparency photo taken on a Speed Graphic. My avi is of my face when I was a bit younger and fresher. #EduTooter #Sewist

If you count cows instead of sheep to try to fall asleep, it’s probably pasture bedtime
@andijah naturlich! I kinda wish we had more cargo space. Ours has a bench for the childebeest.
@andijah beautiful! We have a Bike43, absolutely worth having where we live (car traffic, some hills)
I haven’t done any flower drawings for ages. Maybe I should do some more.
@miffyhelen hail! Merry Yorkshire day unto thee!
@HamonWry I wear my watch on my left wrist (non-dominant) and I wear it on thr inside of my wrist…if that makes sense
Apparently the word ambiate is now obsolete but meant, to aspire to. I propose a new definition; Ambiate, to allow to come to room temperature.
Despite Count von Count's name, the word 'count' meaning "nobleman" has a different origin than the word 'to count'.
Moreover, a count can rule over a country, but the words 'count' and 'country' have different origins too.
And yet, all of these words share one ancient element: a word meaning "with".
My new infographic shows how these words originated.
@sheepnik lovely 🥰
Couldn’t remember why I came on here. It was only when I logged off I remembered it was to verify my age.
The word 'ye' in names such as Ye Olde Inn ('the old inn') was originally simply pronounced 'the'.
The pronunciation with y is due to a misinterpretation of the first letter.
'Ye' originated as a second-best way of writing 'þe'. The first letter, þ, was called thorn. It was a letter for the th sound that originated in Old English.
Where did þ come from? How did it disappear? And why was it substituted by y in the word 'ye'?
Click my new infographic to read all about it:
@mothninja introduced the family to this and it absolutely does not disappoint

Experts at climate conference in Exeter this week: "World leaders must take “immediate, unprecedented action” to prevent devastating climate tipping points".
We ask:
Can we have safe streets for children to cycle to school?

@bellinghman @fesshole yeah that is true tbf.
@fesshole just because he’s married with a family, doesn’t mean he’s straight.
Venn diagram Further explanation in the alt text in case you're struggling. When I posted this on twitter it was described as most middle class venn diagram ever. Which is incredibly patronising and classist. No middle class person knows who the bloke on the right is.
Three cheers for councillors who get on & do things. Thank you to Cllrs Liz Pole & Ruth Williams who looked at our Quick Wins list & secured funding for cycle parking at Polsloe Br station
