@jik I thought this was a Democrat fundraising email at first glance in my inbox this morning… 😒

@jik I thought this was a Democrat fundraising email at first glance in my inbox this morning… 😒
Shout out to all other #MacAdmins who currently have to Google how to spell 'sequoia' each type you need to type it.
@synfinatic @coffeegeek here here. This year’s MotoGP calendar has been banger after banger!!
@coffeegeek I’m only watching Monaco to see how Leclerc gets cursed this year 🙃
My goofy new sunglasses have to be worth what, +5 watts? #biketooter
@stefan how boring (or not) was the volcano? I still haven’t done that one yet…
“I do not consider it my place to tell you what to do or how to play. I'm quite willing to let my opinions be heard (if I think the band is making beautiful progress or a heaving mistake, I consider it part of my job to tell them) but if the band decides to pursue something, I'll see that it gets done.“
Post every thought like it might be your last. An instant classic:

@OwenK my largest transit pet peeve when visiting a lot of US cities! NYC suffers badly from this too.
Offhand, MDW/ORD, ATL, and SFO are the first ones I can think of with halfway decent train connections. In many cases, it’s a byproduct of poorly made regulation around spending the Passenger Facility Fee. The reg was thankfully changed in 2021, but the momentum will take a long time to swing. https://www.vice.com/en/article/z3v5j3/us-airports-no-longer-have-to-build-their-own-crappy-trains
@jik I wouldn’t, but I’d also look into upgrading the tires if you feel like they’re not giving you adequate grip and feedback. If they’re the same compound as the stock Grom ones, they’re hard as rocks and something a little softer (in compound) will give you better traction and feel.
“do you know ascii code 7?”
“yea, that rings a bell.”
#TIL stop signs shaped like octagons were invented in Mississippi in 1923 because someone thought that the more sides a shape had, the higher a danger level it invoked.
A triangle has the fewest number of sides, so it's just a warning.
A square has 4 sides, so it ups the warning level a little.
An octagon has 8 sides, so that's the warning that says Stop Right Where You Are Because Horrors Shall Ensue.
I'm assuming that if we ever see a >8-sided sign, it means #Cthulhu has arrived.
I’ll be attending, see you there for some ice cream and Mac nerdery!

the practice many browsers have adopted of truncating URLs in the address bar to the hostname is emblematic of the decline and commercially driven infantilization of the web.
understanding URLs — their roles and the ways and whys of how they are constructed — was an elementary skill of the original view-source web.
hiding complete URLs encourages people to become ignorant consumers of mysterious information services, rather than informed participants in a public forum.
@jik today was a good riding day even if it was windy as all get-out
little fun fact for PMs considering adding this to their product: if i’m viewing a website in a browser, chances are i want to view the website in a browser. thanks!! 🙏
@dankennedy_nu yep - that was one that was filed about the Globe using Facebook tracking pixels on their website that leaked subscriber information back to Facebook. It should be legit, I think the deadline to be part of the class was back in the fall so that would track timeline-wise.
@zoocoup go. Saw them with igorrr last year and it was fucking a amazing
Sorry Boston, the winter storm watch is entirely my fault - I not only got the #motorcycle out of storage and rode it today, I had the temerity to park it in the driveway after I got back 😬
