Internet Archive is looking for engineering managers with a rare set of experiences, and we could use your help.
Do you know someone with extensive experience using PHP as a systems language? Someone who has gardened a petabyte-scale system under high load? Is this person a player/coach engineering manager who enjoys helping other people succeed?
If you do know someone like this, or someone close, I would love to talk to them.

Hi Mastodon!
IEEE Spectrum is an award-winning technology magazine, dedicated to bringing you the best technology news and analysis.
The final issue of #linuxformat has been released. After 25 years the magazine is going out with a bang. Interviewing the old staff members, and looking back at old Linux distros (Corel Linux, I used that a long time ago. I've been with LXF since 2011 (writing the community page) and freelancing with them since 2013. The Raspberry Pi User section started with the Pi 2, and it carried on til the very end.

@rvr We designed Slint to be language agnostic from the start. It is a native UI toolkit with clear separation of UI and logic, and first-class support for Rust, C++, JavaScript, and Python. https://slint.dev
Qt’s New Bridging Technology - Looking Back to Move Forward https://www.qt.io/blog/about-the-new-qt-bridging-technology
«With the new bridging technology, Qt aims to provide not only a set of initial integrations for five pre-selected languages: C#, Kotlin/Java, Python, Rust, and Swift, but also to open and document a few private QML APIs to allow anyone to build additional language integrations in the future».

A while back, a developer named Steve Williams contributed a working draft for a JPEG 2000 export plug-in for #GIMP (it suited their needs, but needed some work to be more general)
I took some time to finish polishing it, and now you can export 8 and 16bpc JPEG 2000 images, both as JP2 containers and J2K codestreams. However! I'm not sure what export options are relevant to include in the export dialogue.
If you use JPEG 2000, I'd appreciate any suggestions of what controls to add!
What is the p-Machine, and why is it like that?
Before we can go into greater detail about what the code in our example (and other programs) actually does, we're going to need a little background on what the p-Machine architecture is, and why it has some of the features that it has...

New #fwupd release just dropped: https://github.com/fwupd/fwupd/releases/tag/2.0.10
It fixes the bug (mea culpa) where the KEK failed to deploy correctly. If you had a KEK deploy failure, please update to this release and try again. I'll re-upload the KEKs to the LVFS with the fwupd requirement set to 2.0.10.
There's also some other better stuff, so enjoy!
