When you interact with an LLM, you might start out skeptical.

And then you're amazed. The words are so intelligent, so human, so living. This cannot be a mere machine! You know, as a human, what a human soul looks like, and you see it from this AI! It is a real intelligent being that deserves love and respect and awe.

But you've been fooled.

Not by your sense of human connection, which is powerful and true, but by your understanding of what is happening. The AI is a bot-in-the-middle attack on genuine human connection, taking real, passionate, felt human words and feeding them to another human in remixed form.

It's a reanimation of someone or ones' humanity in shapes which are sometimes realistic, sometimes ghastly.

You can send yourself nuts chasing ghosts like this. And the best way to guard against it is to not use LLMs. Talk to real humans. We are here, we are listening; we are not always perfect, but we're the place where everything wonderful in an LLM truly originates.

On the plus side, the induction stove is here and installed and reliably working with a 5cm wide tiny steel mug too (manual says stuff needs 9+cm wide bottoms to register, but it didn't bat an eye). On the minus side, I'm sick. Probably not really, I just haven't slept more than an hour or two for 4 days in a row. What the fuck. I'm starting to hear colors.

Also the whole house stinks from the first heating.

Might just go back to bed. After I figure out which setting to use to get a lukewarm mug of milk. Not cold. Not hot. But I don't need new mugs at least, which is good cause there aren't induction bottom mugs anywhere on the searchable internets, and the regular size is 8.5 cm wide (which I have 2, but they work, so)

Just a new coffee pot for mum. And the pretty red one was her favorite... :( Not magnetic tho and she forgot to mention this part, could have bought one already.

I guess I'll wait for her to test all the pots and pans out tomorrow to see what we need to replace. Most new stuff we bought specifically thinking we'll get induction eventually, so those should work, and some older ones are magnetic, but idk how well the thin things will work compared to the thick induction plate...

between our boiler still being broken and our sofa being more hole than seat and making me cry from pain (more than usual, sigh) on a daily basis, we've got some Big Money Spend imminent.

my income's down ~85% since mid-august thanks to US gov't decisions, so things are getting ... difficult at this point. so if anyone wants to buy a sculpture^ or even possibly just share a smidge of money, that would be most helpful. lots of new sculptures coming later this week!

I just found this photo I took when we were getting ready to move the pineapple plants indoors for the winter several weeks ago. This plant had two "residents" who had to be persuaded to evacuate the premises. It was either that, or spend days chasing frogs around the house after we moved the plants inside.
