PSA: Did you know that it’s **unsafe** to put code diffs into your commit messages?

Like github.com/i3/i3/pull/6564 for example

Such diffs will be applied by patch(1) (also git-am(1)) as part of the code change!

This is how a sleep(1) made it into i3 4.25-2 in Debian unstable.

GitHub PR i3#6564, where Orestis explains how he tested the patch.GitHub .patch file for this PRDebian issue with unexpected delay — the sleep(1) call made it into the code!test with git-am(1)

@b0rk as far as I know the models that are sold with Linux are the models where everything works fine, because they make sure everything works. This is the reason you can't get an X1 with the OLED 120hz screen shipped with Linux, the option with the good screen has a non-supported webcam and the store automatically changes the screen if you choose Linux (not sure why the screen is tied to the webcam choice). I still wanted the good screen so went with it and everything but the webcam works fine.

RE: fosstodon.org/@LPI/11574128134

I've moved to Seattle just recently due to my job and was lucky enough to meet a long time friend, Jon "maddog" Hall, and Andrew and Ted from @LPI who gave me local tips, especially on where to eat the best dumplings.

The timing was great as I've got to attend a Free Software conference and also meet other Debian Developers right when I moved.

Now I'll be spreading and stickers on this side of the world.

@debian The talk was also covered by @lwn , the article is at lwn.net/Articles/1030669/

After a few hours of mixing, editing, rendering and writing subtitles, I've finally published the last of my talks from DebConf25 (@debian)

"The Security of Debian - An introduction to advanced users - DebConf25 " is a good starting point for those curious about how distributions handle security vulnerabilities and how that's organized outside of the distros.

@bagder @ecurtin thanks for the PR, I want to approach something like this very carefully so I ask for a few weeks to think about this and consider the implications. Just to set the expectations; it might take some months until we get to a point where we can approve/reject the PR.

@pemensik @bagder wcurl does that plus it downloads them in parallel, no parameters needed besides the URLs

Turns on auto-generated subtitles for the music video
Subtitles: "[Music]"
Not wrong, but not what I was looking for...

Short presentation about what happened since wcurl’s creation in May 17 2024 and what will happen next.

"curl maintainers BoF - DebConf 25" youtube.com/watch?v=OhTjgU7LIO0

@msw I'm assuming this was for the work machine? Can you share what you did? I have the same problem on the X1 gen13 and we work at the same company (thus same OS).

@erlenmayr as I understand the newer versions have compatibility issues, controversial deviations from the RFC. Trixie is patching a bunch of stuff for 2.4 and there seems to be a general movement towards migrating to sequoia-pgp now.

I've played with it but haven't migrated yet.

@erlenmayr I was tempted to list the HDR support, had it in the first draft, but I'm not sure it's working well with all apps yet.
I've tried to test it but something wasn't working, what's your experience with it?

And I didn't know about the gnupg one, thanks.
