I'm working on making sure that field items in my indie NES JRPG, Even Goblins Fall In Love, also have some use in battle.

For example, the keys used to unlock enchanted doors can also instantly defeat Mimics by locking them shut.

@afreytes I remember catching the odd episode of this on Nickelodeon in the US as a kid and thinking that Mendoza was the coolest name ever.

For the AwesomeCon demo of Even Goblins Fall In Love, people always gave out a little chuckle when they encountered this guy.

At the moment, it costs about 100 bytes to add a new enemy to Even Goblins Fall In Love. About 80% of that is metasprite data. Time to put on the old code-size optimization gloves again.
