Did anyone else play #SimCity on the #SNES back in the day? This was probably one of my favorite game soundtracks ever created.

The end of turn six. We have an entirely different tack we're following this time, taking human wave tactics to another level. In addition to just infantry though, I've also mixed in some bazooka units (known as mechs, even though 'mechanized infantry' is used to actually mean like some dudes in an APC) to give us some cheap extra firepower. They're glass cannons and almost entirely useless on the offensive, but we can deploy a *lot* of them.
The end of turn 1. So it begins - again.
I’m practicing for my next livestream and… bruh… :gabbruh: 😂
Okay, with all the changes and ill-will towards the old cart: it's time to beat up on some FF6 bad guys!
Finished #MegaMan 7. Many years ago, I remember practicing with an emulator and being able to dodge the final boss consistently. That muscle memory is totally gone, but 4 E-tanks and an S-tank was sufficent!
This game is such a mixed bag and feels unfinished. Parts of it feel poorly balanced, and I don't see the reason for having 2 sets of 4 robot masters instead of just making all of them available. And Mega Man is just slightly too big.
That said, there are lots of genuinely fun and cool parts, and it is fun to learn some of the boss patterns. Great music too, especially those credits 💀 + 🔥 = 🎶

Okay, the setup is solid now. SCART into the `gscart` switch which splits the output. One goes to the Sony PVM-2530, the other output goes to the RetroTINK 4K. I tried to get the colors to match somewhat on the CRT, but it's a fool's errand to be honest. However, once work is over it'll be time to progress more in FF6.
Took a day to track down an interesting issue: an absolute ton of noise coming out of the `gscart` SCART switch. It was bad going through the RetroTINK 5X and intolerable coming through the RetroTINK 4K. Started with the SNES, swapped out cables and it was still there. Then copied the ROM and save state over to the MiSTer and saw the same exact issue with analog output from the MiSTer.
It was weird because the SNES is RGB modded via Voultar's SNESRGB and should have some absolutely pristine RGB out, and the MiSTer should also have some great RGB output via the Saturn RGB output on the back. However, after some fiddling and upgrading the MiSTer: it was the USB power going to the `gscart` switch.
I was using the USB outputs on the power strip attached to the AV cart. After moving it to a known quality USB power adapter, the noise was gone.
TL,DR: If you have a `gscart` switch, make sure you supply it with some quality power otherwise you're gonna have a bad day.
Calling it - we were never in a very great position, and I don't think retrying that defense from turn 8 would yield much better results. Tomorrow, though, we'll try it again from the top!
Turn 15. The question is no longer if we're losing, but whether to reload the save from day 8 or restart completely. Perhaps I should have saved up for a rocket launcher instead of producing field artillery...
The end of turn 13. We're doing damage, but I've made a couple of unforced errors that I fear may have doomed an already unlikely defense. It feels like we're losing in slow motion. But maybe that's what winning feels like sometimes?
The end of turn 10. Things are about to get very painful for the blue army - I'm genuinely not sure we can win from this position. The plan is to inflict enough damage on the red army using my checkerboard of artillery that they pull back for repairs and give us some breathing space. I deployed light tanks in case there's an opening to hit the rockets positioned in the middle of their forces. If we can take those out, we just might be able to hold.
Time to get back to FF6 after dying in a desert near a castle...and forgetting to save which means it's back to Narshe and a lot of ground to cover again.

Alright, time for the custom cart/Kefka revenge tour! I'm feeling like crap, but I figured playing a bit o' vidya games would help out. Time for some Final Fantasy 6 in the only way I know how to play it: on an old CRT TV with more than a bit of profanity.
Is there a SNES FPGA out there that eats original SNES Games? I know Analogue had one but are there alternatives?
