A critique of the Braver Angels model of #debate

Got radicalized by teachers teaching to the test for memorization based exams. Got me researching about project based learning, open book assessments, open education

Got deradicalized again by realizing those exams are there for a reason : easiest to scale for millions

I think almost every single radical opinion I've had has undergone change when thinking about how it would apply and deliver outcomes predictably at scale in a routinized 9-5 workflow for tired, short on attention span people

We need SO much more diversity in tech!

There seems to be a tendency to just pit projects against each other (or buy each other) until we only get 2 options in the end. This is horrible for consumer choices, for security, for privacy, for resilience, and just leads to more enshitification everywhere once people are locked in systems without viable alternatives.

We need much more options, everywhere.
Celebrate and encourage diversity.
In tech, and everywhere else.
