In light of the Supreme Court deciding to allow fully automatic weapons, I feel it is important for people to understand what the Vegas Mass-shooting was and how it unfolded. NYT has an excellent in-depth analysis.

Upon reflection, this car wants to get rear ended.
I found this article and list of 11 best progressive rock tracks to test your sound system interesting. I've been using Division Bell for a while, despite others telling me it isn't "Really Pink Floyd". Rush's Tom Sawyer isn't one I've used before but definitely is getting added to my demo disc. "Arriving Somewhere But Not Here" was also new to me but I think my track from Evanescence - Bring Me Back to Live, is a better but similar track.

Here is some cool science for the day. This could lead to carbon nano-tubes being made inexpensively enough that they could start showing up in everything.
It sucks when you lose your mind, even worse when it is 15 BILLION miles from Earth. https://www.npr.org/2024/03/06/1236033493/nasas-voyager-1-spacecraft-is-talking-nonsense-its-friends-on-earth-are-worried
Last night I was at a friend's house and their friend mentioned they would be running a marathon today. I asked them (jokingly) if they were going to run a 2hr 15m time. That led to us talking about the Kenyan runner, Kiptum, who just ran a new record of 2:05, but tragicly was also recently killed in a automobile accident.
As he started to share about Kiptum, he became really emotional, and had a harder time speaking. I let him unload his grief and just "hold space" with them and really listen. His grief was mixed with anger too. Anger that Kenya continues to be such a dangerous place for people to live their lives and how much they struggle.
I then tried to help him find some peace by shifting the conversation from the problems of the country, the tragedy of Kiptum's death, and asked if we could use this tragedy to help shine a light on Kenya. He liked that idea and we ended in a place of hope, acceptance, and way to honor him.
I hope others learn about this amazing athlete and his nation's need for help
@wolfensteijn do you find going to the museum to be a waste of time? If you have a mechanical watch on your hand, it's like carrying a work of art around with you that you can look at whenever you want!
Another thought about a music video... I'd never seen the beginning of Michael Jackson's "You Rock My World" video. It has... ugh... not aged well. Little creepy seeing Skeletor Michael cat calling and chasing after women, one that couldn't be much more than 15...
edit - Oh Sh1t! That's Chris Tucker chasing tail with Michael and they both look like misogynistic dolts, despite the cool moves and threads...
"The video consists of Jackson's and Tucker's characters trying to gain the affection of a woman (Kishaya Dudley) by subsequently following her around the neighborhood. " - wikipedia
edit 2 - WAaaaah! Marlon Brando is the club/gang boss!? And how long is this mess!? 13:32? Really?

Every time, I hear Adele's start singing in the Skyfall bond opening credits theme, I'm like, "Is this Adele, sounds like Adele, oh yeah totally Adele..." I can't help but think she is proud of joining the likes of Sherley Bassey and Madonna in doing a bond theme. Not to mention it's probably one of my top 5 favorites.
Oh and if you don't have a copy of the Shirley Bassey Remixes album, you owe yourself a copy! Or I guess these days (if you don't collect music), add it to your streaming list and give it a listen.

The Mike's Drive-In in Tigard is so fancy, I didn't even recognize it as the same restaurant as the one in Milwaukie... oh and they really loved Albert and wanted him to come into the restaurant. Which I found funny because it is a DRIVE-IN!

I'm old. Just discovered @katyperry and the music video ROAR. Not really my style of music but the video is well produced and I like the message of the music. The airbrushed heavy make-up in the jungle look is... a bit off-putting to my autistic brain, but whateves... (that's what the kids say right?) and I guess it goes with the nail-polish on the elephant...
Thanks Etsy!! I was wondering if this would protect me against COVID!

@adrake that's the thing, I bought it on Amazon and made sure to choose the reseller Hillsboro Industrial Surplus, LLC (aka Surplus Gizmos) because they are local, supply Intel, and I thought I'd get authentic product.
Except Amazon pulled a fast one and switched the fulfillment to ELITE.CITI instead *AFTER* the order was placed. So now I'm just done buying critical life safety items off Amazon, period. I already never buy security related products, e.g. auth tokens, security cameras, motherboards, but now I have a whole new category to avoid. I'd definitely not buy Anderson connectors from qinhuapanshangmaosg who's a "new seller" and has the cheapest price by $2 less.
Oh and Hugh Grant is the Oompa-Loompa, while Keegan-Michael Key is the chief of police!
Is anyone else a little excited about Timothée Chalamet as Willy Wonka? I still have PTSD from the Tim Burton Wonka with Johnny Depp, so hopefully this isn't as much of a travesty. Even if it is good though, nothing will be Eric Idol's original performance.
Here's the new trailer:

@wolfensteijn I didn't know the Black Petes could build micro-electronics. I think you'll find the Withings more useful than the poor battery life of the Pixel.
You should ad a real mechanical watch to your collection next. The Bulova watches strike a nice balance between craftsmanship and price. Truthfully I only wear my Withings during sport or exercise.
Damn. Ouch. That's quite the attention getting subject line from my new smart watch company.
I also wanted to say that I'm providing the link to allow people to see that I'm not making it up but more importantly so you can REPORT IT. This is the reason I reported it:
Promotes Terrorism - "Glorifies the 9/11 attacks or at a minimum mocks it."
Within 1 hour of the new Lego mode of Fortinet, people were stacking blocks up as high as possible then knocking them down. No worries right? Well shortly after that people were recreating the 9/11 attacks in NYC and posting it on YouTube.
It's #DISGUSTING that people are laughing and finding this funny. #zoomers, I thought you were the generation of pointing out how disrespectful and triggering everything is and wanting to ensure everyone has a #safespace? How do you find this funny? Maybe it's time to talk with your peers rather than ragging on the #boomers?
So pro-life AG, Ken Paxton is asking the Texas Supreme Court to vacate a decision by the lower court allowing a woman with a non-viable prgenancy to get an abortion. If she is forced to give birth to the fetus it likely will injure her in a way that would prevent her from being able to have a viable kid in the future.
So how is that "pro-life"? It isn't because this has nothing to do with abortion, it has everything to do with "putting women in their place" and taking away bodily autonomy. The Texas GOP won't be happy until all women are "barefoot and pregnant at home". They see the 1950s as the "Golden Age" of the United States and are hell-bent on taking their State backwards to it.
