Judge Breyer said the violence in #LosAngeles falls "far short" of the "rebellion" #Trump described to justify calling in the #NationalGuard #troops. And he said Trump's use of the #military over the actions of "stray bad actors" was "untenable & dangerous."

The admin has already appealed the decision to the 9th Circuit. This could be at #SCOTUS by tomorrow, at this rate.

Say what you want about . Today, the court ruled unanimously on the case, A.J.T. v. Osseo Area Schools.

The court has reaffirmed that with are entitled to an free from . Discrimination in is plainly illegal, even if it is unintentional.

Additionally, a higher standard of proof is *not* required in education disability rights.

#SCOTUS: making an all-powerful pres. But Trump isn't Interested in the job. If every mem of the exec branch ops acc to the pres' will/pleasure -then voters know who to blame when something goes wrong. Exec power “acquires: legitimacy & accountability to the public thru ‘a clear & effective chain of command’ down from the pres."

In control of all policy decisions made in the exec branch? Impossible -a dangerous abdication: he doesn’t appear to read intel briefs...

"A unanimous Supreme Court said a family whose house was wrongly raided by law enforcement can sue.

At issue is what law enforcement refers to as 'wrong-house raids.' Local, state, or, as in the case before the court, federal officers smash into a private home to find a suspect, but it's the wrong house. That's what happened to Trina Martin, her 7-year-old son Gabe, and Trina's partner, Toi Cliatt, in their Atlanta home in 2017 when they their house was wrongly raided by FBI and SWAT agents who were serving an arrest warrant for a neighbor accused of gang activity."

In celebration of Loving Day, we're sharing "New Hope" by Corita Kent. This serigraph from 1966 is dedicated to Mildred and Richard Loving. At that time the Lovings were plaintiffs in the midst of the Supreme Court case that ultimately struck down states’ bans on interracial marriage the following year on June 12. 1/2

Corita Kent's 1966 serigraph titled "New Hope", which is dedicated to the Lovings, and contains silkscreened text of a poem by e e cummings in bright colors over white.

Printed text on the serigraph reads:
To the Lovings, / NEW HOPE / i love you much (most beautiful darling) more than anyone on earth and i like you better than everything in the sky-sunlight and singing welcome your coming although winter may be everywhere with such a silence and such a darkness no one can quite begin to guess (except my life) the true time of the year-and if what calls itself a world should have the luck to hear singing (or glimpse such sunlight as will leap higher than high through gayer than gayest someone's heart at your each nearness) everyone certainly would (my most beautiful darling) believe in nothing but love.

This and making it easier to sue schools over disability issues, is good news, but it feels like tossing us a bone.

The Supreme Court on Thursday, in a narrow ruling, made it easier for students with disabilities to sue to enforce their rights under the Americans with Disabilities Act and other laws enacted to ensure that disabled children get appropriate schooling.

Chief Justice John Roberts wrote the unanimous opinion. Justices Clarence Thomas and Sonia Sotomayor wrote separate, concurring opinions — joined, respectively, by Justices Brett Kavanaugh and Ketanji Brown Jackson.

After six more rulings today, here's what's left on #SCOTUS "merits" docket, sorted by how many days it's been since they were argued. By my count, we're looking at another *20* rulings in these cases, plus a ruling on the birthright citizenship emergency applications, before the summer recess:

An image of a list of the remaining cases for the Supreme Court to decide that have been argued during the justices' current term.

Sixth (and last) #SCOTUS ruling is in A.J.T. (the case about ADA accommodations). For a unanimous Court, Chief Justice Roberts holds that there is no heightened requirement for proving these kinds of disability-related claims. (Of note to some, this is the Lisa Blatt / Roman Martinez case.)

Fifth (but not last) #SCOTUS ruling is in Soto v. United States. For a unanimous Court, Justice Thomas sides with veterans in a technical, procedural dispute over the length of the period during which they're entitled to retroactive combat-related pay:
