So Alien has the tag line "In space, no one can hear you scream", which sounds scary and all.
But have you noticed it's usually the Alien that gets ejected into space at the end, never a human?

I was trying to find the Sweet Home movie since @ishambard wrote about the game.
Instead I found HOUSE (1977).
7 girls want to spend the summer at a house that turns out to be haunted.
What can I say… you probably heard about the average shot length getting shorter over time? Well, HOUSE in its second half is probably way ahead of its time. It’s pretty nuts, with all the effects and colors and 70s music and chaos going on. It’s really fun.
If you’re looking for a horror comedy for #halloween or so you should give it a try.
I’m fine with some USB-C cables not being usable to transfer data or attach peripherals, but couldn’t there be a rule that these have to be labeled in a certain way? 😭
4 or 5 times when I went to a camp I took the Steam Deck with me, but haven’t played so far.
Nevertheless I keep bringing it because it gives me reassurance I *could* play if wanted to. Gaming insurance, so to speak.
In GZDoom you can switch between software and hardware renderer.
Can you guess which one is which?
The hardware renderer seems to calculate the color of each pixel if it's darker, but the software renderer uses color maps.
There's a good explanation of color maps in one of decino's videos.
I'll link to the right timestamp:
https://youtu.be/ONsgzLKt3vQ?t=589
In the video, and hopefully in the software rendered screenshot as well, you can see how colors don't go from bright to dark in a linear fashion. On pinky demons for example, shadows are greenish.
I don't know about you, but isn't this so much more visually interesting!?
This reflects how it's often done in art as well, with shadows having different hues so it looks more appealing and not "flat".
How sad is it, that a lot of people are probably playing with hardware renderer and don't even know about this?
With the right shader it would probably be easy to mix in different hues as things get darker, but probably not in such a deliberate way.
Some things are sold in stores even though there is no need to buy them. For example cups, plates, blankets and various types of computer peripherals like cheap mice and keyboards. They simply spawn into existence in households.
My prediction for #alienearth which I’ve had since ep1 is, the thing with the mind upload kids will be similar to the game SOMA:
At some point it will be “revealed” an upload creates a copy but doesn’t transfer, by showing a flashback to one of the kids waking up again after the android alter ego is already active. Thus demonstrating it does nothing helpful for the original human.
Kavalier tries to hide this, but it gets out somehow and everyone will be like “what a bummer!”and this explains why we never see similar technology in the stories that take place later.
The kids, when finding out about this, will be shocked at first but then find the resolve to “live their own life” or something. The ones who survive, anyways.
I’ll mark this so it won’t be deleted and you all can either laugh at me by the season’s end, or be in awe at my prophecies.
Anyone wants to bet against me? 😏
You know that saying “this meeting could have been an email”?
Since I got into #Doom and its mods, a similar thought now pops up when I look at a lot of games, like “oh that could have been a Doom mod”
Outside my parents house I found an ancient plastic box with Famicom games. They were to be thrown away 🫢
There are a couple of big hits among them, like Gradius and DragonQuest 1-3.
I put a list in the alt text.
I think the Transformers game is widely known as horribly bad.
I’d like to try them but I don’t have a Famicom base device. 🥲
Probably none of them are worth anything given the condition. So I’ll likely end up giving them to a used game store for like 10 yen a game. But at least I wanted to document and share this first.
Aww someone made a mini torii from rebar 🥹
If there is a benefit to AI art flooding the internet, it’s that I’ve become a little less conscious about posting my own drawings.
I used to feel bad about it because all my stuff look so sloppy. But it’s impossible to chase the level of polish and (pointless) detail that AI puts out, so let’s embrace the sloppiness.
Anyways, here are some practice drawings of hands (from reference) and some other doodles.
What if point and click games were instead called "Pick 'em up"?
Like shoot 'em up or beat 'em up, but since you often collect so many items...? The idea sprang into my head when I woke up in the middle of last night.
No? ... ok, maybe not.
