Now I realise that name is 'taken', so I need to choose a new one.

So far, I'm drawing a blank. Any suggestions?

I don't think people are realising the danger the Fediverse is in.

The only thing stopping corporations and VCs taking over this place is that the Fediverse is spread out on many different servers, which makes it very difficult to purchase.

If most of the Fediverse ends up on mastodon.social, which is now a strong possibility, there will be nothing to stop most of it being sold to Musk or Zuckerberg or whoever.

The bigger mastodon.social becomes, the more likely a buyout is to happen.

I can assure you that we’re not going anywhere 😌

We are working to hand over all of PM / Spore from Currently as of May 1st, which includes recurring project mushroom donations / subscription revenue. So far we have enough money to continue paying for server costs, and we are running on volunteer labour.

It’s honestly surprising to know that the feed isn’t being manipulated for maximum attention.

A similar experience is http://www.wehole.tv — it randomly shows you YouTube videos with less than 100 views. What is surprising (but shouldn’t be) is how much non-English speaking content comes up. It’s a more representative picture of the world.
