@N1ZZZ @AD6QF Sadly and shamefully, no. It was easier/cheaper to rent and Iridium unit than to equip our yacht with proper HF Comms, especially that it was a one-off expedition of this kind for the boat.

@AD6QF @N1ZZZ I used one as a backup communication for my sailing expedition to Greenland. Iridium had an SMS gate on their website with free 5 texts per day. We had people send us WX/ice reports with this using a 'coding' scheme of sorts

@Eloquent_Vogon @g0fcu to me it was shipping plus tax, plus manipulation costs of FedEx, which totalled 1/3 extra to the price. go with their post office option, you will save money and service is pretty the same
