In an ever-changing digital world, it's really cool to see Kirupa still around and putting out great content. I remember this being an often referenced bookmark in my early web dev days *checks watch* decades ago.

Hey friends, my calendar opens up in Q1 2025. If you have contract opportunities in #WebDev, keep me in mind!
I’m pretty flexible—solo dev handling an entire project to staff aug w/ an internal team. Bonus points for #UIDev, #WebAnimation, and #DesignSystems!
No matter where you stand on the ethics/usefulness of Generative
#ai, you can't deny an artist's right to choose. Glaze protects artists by subtly altering their work in a way that's imperceptible to humans but prevents AI models from using it without consent.
@dletorey I'd be first to get in line for tickets if you did!
I want to make an effort to attend (and maybe speak at?) web dev conferences in 2025, but feel like I'm way more tuned into those in the UK - State of the Browser, FFConf, Beyond Tellerand, WDC, Pixel Pioneers, Frontend North, etc.
Looking for suggestions for general web dev, maybe frontend-leaning, conferences in North America. Usually not all that interested in framework-specific ones.
Just because, here's a photo of a cool waterfall we found while on vacation in Georgia a few weeks ago.
Renewing my open invitation, any former colleagues (or anyone, really) looking for a new role and would like to chat. Hit me up!
Sometimes just having someone there to listen for a bit does a world of good, especially someone that's been there before. I'm also in technology-centric spaces where design/dev/ops opportunities are posted fairly regularly, so I can help keep an eye out for you.
I know first hand how transformative it is to have that kind of support and want to pay it forward.
So I'm making an "intro to web development as a career" course for O'Reilly, and I want to get some quotes of real folks working in web development to sprinkle in the slides. If you'd like to be featured/help me out/share your story with newcomers to this field, I'd be so happy if you'd fill out this wee form: https://forms.gle/qW3wNvvHeZ2cqGB5A

All told, it was somehow more work than I expected - and I expected a lot - but also more rewarding than I ever could've imagined. There's no motivation stronger than knowing your name is going on something, delivering work I'm proud of is a huge motivator.
I've been meaning to get deeper into some freelance journey specifics with a blog post, but haven't made the time yet. Let me know if that's something you're interested in reading, I need a good boost to get it done.

4. I can't help but feel like this last one may come off as boastful, but I think it's an important one to highlight. As of this month, I've officially invoiced more than my net income last year. Of course it's not 1:1, gross vs net, being out of work a bit, etc. But it's one metric that really made it hit home, I'm really doing it!

2. I finally figured out quarterly taxes and individual marketplace insurance, half a year in and I feel like an old pro at it already. I don't, however, foresee myself ever getting used to how many zeros go into both of those payments.
3. I've turned down and/or referred others to more projects than I've actually landed myself. A statistic I'm actually very proud of, teamwork makes the dream work, and I love having the freedom to say I'm not a good fit and offer better alternatives.
