"I want," the man said to the art robot, and then described an image in some detail.
"Certainly," said the art robot. A printout came out of its chest.
"Thank y- Hey! What's this?"
"A list of artists who make images of the kind you describe, and who are accepting commissions."

Had to make the difficult decision to let a student go this month. There have been issues with them playing loud music in the hallway, not training other students properly, lack of communication with me, leaving the lab space a mess, not following protocols and not coming into work when they knew I was away. It is never fun to be the bad guy, but the negative impacts on other lab members and disrespect was too much. #academia
Every once in a while a top-notch observation disguised as a meme comes around, and I think this is one.
@teadrinker good luck! Remember that you still need a good sleep (otherwise this plan wonât work) so perhaps go to sleep earlier. It may take a few days to adjust to a new schedule (and it may not work, so be forgiving with yourself).
@yasha Iâm sorry for your loss. Taking the time to grieve is necesary. So yes, this sounds like a productive day.
Okay, seems to me that a good *plan* for dealing with twitter (as opposed to all the "if you use twitter you're literally a Nazi" BS that people *here* like to spew)
One thing I'm seeing over there is the almost certainly artificial boosting of e.g. "Black folks who think Kamala Harris does nothing"
That's a good direct place to start -- Over at twitter you are being *lied to*. by means of algorithms. Get them over here.
Here, btw, is a photo of that first known English language Haggadah, printed by Alexander Alexander in 1770, and held by the National Library and Archives of Canada. You can see the wine stains on the pages. #Haggadah #Passover #Pesach #Seder #London #Ottawa #yow #LowyCollection #Jewish #Yiddishkeit #JewishHistory #GeorgeIII
@Hadass NICE!!
The doors were locked.
The teachers were armed.
TN expanded firearm access.
The police arrived in minutes.
Covenant school had everything that MAGA GOP assured us prevents & stops mass shootings. And 3 babies & 3 adults were murdered in seconds.đł

@lborrell thank you for this! We have been getting requests from reviewers to refer to participants form the Hispanic Community Health Study/Study of Latinos as Latinx multiple times, I think I should start citing this paper on the get go (first submitted version).
Yay! During April there is a 20% OFF everything at my plublisherâs!! You may want to take advantage of that for my books:
@jorijn I also read this chapter, and one of the few things I remember is the author encouraging the reader to fall asleep, if they feel like it, when reading the book.
And another chapter done! Learn about build automation using {targets}
If youâre interested in upping your data science game and build reproducible analytical pipelines, give my book a read, itâs free:

Another metaphor I'm curious about: "AI" as "fuel" or "power" --- when people talk about "AI-powered technology" or "AI that fuels your creativity/curiosity". This seems to suggest that the AI is autonomously producing something...
Where are my metaphor theorists at?
Reading about #ChatGPT plug-ins and wondering why this is framed as plug-ins for #ChatGPT (giving it "capabilities") rather than #ChatGPT as a plug-in to provide a conversational front-end to other services.
Nevermind, I know why: This is #OpenAI yet again trying to sell their text synthesis machine as "an AI".
@JoseEdGomes @WorldImagining but on the other hand, anyone can âself publishâ by posting on arXiv or on a blogging platform.
