The more you understand conservative voters in basically every country the less evidence you find of the narratives around economic anxiety or whatever. Yes, the misery of neoliberal austerity and breakdown of material conditions fosters more conservatism, but fundamentally this describes the soil in which conservatism is most fertile. What animates right-wingers is bigotry and fear, it's racial anxiety and hatres of women and gleeful spite. People with right-wing sentiment aren't sympathetic lost souls, they're stupid, incurious, and evil, and they love that about themselves and their fellows. The more you actually understand them on their own terms and in fact, the less believable the liberal narratives about them are.
I do hope you enjoy my free unmonetizeable goblin content.
How the algorithm works for me is I’ll think “should I try to use a platform for attention or monetization for my projects?” and my timeline will suddenly fill with posts about how that thing is bad and wrong, so I decide to give up and slink back into obscurity, and then my timeline fills with people sharing links and boosts for those shitty platforms.
WHAT FRESH FÂŁ%ING HELL
this is the direct result of #ManufacturingConsent
fuck you, i won’t do what you tell me no matter that the weird looks amongst people are getting more obvious as they are done with decorum
They called the workers’ lawsuits frivolous and hindered pandemic preparedness because profits.

It was a straight line from “oh noes, corporations are being sued by workers for inadequate protection” to dismantling NIOSH.
(To be clear, it wasn’t necessarily that the N95s were defective or wholly ineffective, it was that workers were pushed into inhumane conditions.)

NIOSH, the US agency that approves respiratory protective equipment, is now completely gone.
> The laboratory's respirator approval program had been in the middle of processing around 100 applications for personal protective equipment, one laid-off official said.

Unlucky Pierre should go around Canada unseating Conservative MPs so he can run for their seats and keep losing over and over again. That is the healing this country needs.
Let’s try something. I’ll keep avoiding illness and you keep catching a virus that does cumulative long term damage, and every year we will exchange notes on how things are going. Deal?
The mouth is the toilet of the face.
Toilet: https://youtu.be/aDIIhzc-FWg
Every person not wearing a filtering mask is like a toilet without a lid.
Also, yeah, don’t use your public washrooms for food supply storage.
And professional sports resuming in mid-2020 fuelled a lot of the restlessness in conformists. “If rich athletes can do it, why can’t we?”
We haven’t celebrated the end of Covid because it hasn’t ended. It didn’t magically go away or become less serious. What we got what restless conformists desperate to return to busying distractions belligerently screeching that we needed to just coexist with Covid forever and accept that its destruction is the price to pay for normalsies.
They will tell you
that this virus
is a dangerous bioweapon
that escaped
from a laboratory,
but if they see you
taking any steps
to protect yourself
from this virus
they will tell you
that this virus
is really just a cold.

The 268th week…
Who wants to tell that guy?
But it's important to push back against the widespread assumption that Covid is over.
It isn't.
Not sure if this is enlightenment or just getting old.
Maybe all the 40-something Xennials will start feeling this way. We've been on the Internet Superhighway with no off-ramps since the late 1990s. We're exhausted. We weren't built to contain so many memes.
