Life-Giving but Lethal: The Culprit Behind Dead Zones and the Threat to Our Water Supply
==

The unchecked flow of phosphorus into our waterways — often from farm runoff — contributes to “dead zones” and toxic algae blooms.

At the same time, as an essential ingredient in fertilizer, phosphorus turns vast swaths of land green, nourishing crops and animals. It makes life possible for billions of people.

I wrote about why Twitter has become a national security threat, and how its owner keeps making decisions that help violent autocrats and harm democracies around the world. Currently, Musk is not only re-platforming Kremlin-linked accounts — he’s amplifying them, despite Russia’s continued involvement in war crimes and the distribution of terroristic content.

I have encountered more image descriptions on Mastodon in 24 hours than I have in Twitter in a couple of years. Seriously. I'm not exaggerating.
As a blind person, this means a lot to me. If you read this and you describe your images, thank you so, so, so much on behalf of all of us. If you don't, now you know you'll be helping random Internet strangers make sense of your posts by typing in a few more words than usual.

NEW: Some Are Jailed in Mississippi for Months Without a Lawyer. The State Supreme Court Just Barred That.

Criminal justice reformers have long complained that the state’s rules on appointing public defenders leave poor defendants without a lawyer as they wait to be indicted.

Trying again. If anyone is willing to help support me even with a one time donation I would appreciate it.
I have long term health consequences from both covid and other previous viral infections that have destroyed my body over time. Covid is proving to be very similar to HIV and AIDS in the way it destroys your CD4 and CD8 T cells and attacks lymphocytes in your body, giving you constant headaches, and dizziness, feeling ill, causing your body to be open to fungal and bacterial disease and also can cause your body to develop all kinds of cancers. All of which I am currently experiencing and needing to get tested for if my new doctor will listen.

Anyway. The point is that covid is destroying me from the inside out. And I could really use some support since I'm so unwell I'm unable to work or do much at all. I'm experiencing level of illness I've never experienced before. It's so incredibly debilitating and I'm also slowly wasting away. Literally. Slowly losing weight despite not being able to do much.

Donations and boosts are much appreciated, these help me to survive and stay afloat and maybe maybe be able to afford a functional medicine doctor to get some other tests done (note this costs thousands I don't have, it's not covered here and neither are the tests)
And please remember to mask. And if you own a shop, start strictly enforcing masking. This has to end.

Thank you for reading. Your boosts are more valuable than likes.
