Whitman County in Southeastern Washington is the heart of the Palouse. And boy - do they like to grow wheat out there. More than once, I saw signs indicating that the county is the number one wheat producing county in the US. At any rate, regardless of what the land does, it's covered in wheat fields (82% of the county is used for growing).

And while we were well past harvest (June/July is when you see nothing but fields of glowing wheat), what was left behind really created some nice geometry amongst the undulations of the earth.
