@FreeCAD next step is to solder the electronics like this:

A vector drawing of a small 24×20 mm prototype board segment with three LEDs and pins for the battery.

Hey @FreeCAD, I have continued my light saber project.

In theory, this structure should hold a PCB with three LEDs to illuminate the blade from inside the hilt.

#FreeCAD #FreeCADFriday #3DPrint #StarWars

The screenshot shows the stopper that can be screwed into the hilt of the light saber.
A structure will hold a small PCB with three LEDs in place. A coin socket in the bottom has been added to allow applying torque.Placeholder elements are visible:
Purple represents the LEDs.
Green is the PCB. The corners will get filed off.
Blue and mostly covered is a small LiPo battery in the bottom.

More good news! Another government is freeing itself from tech giants and vendor lock-in. The Danish Ministry of Digitalisation is dropping Microsoft Office/365 and moving to #LibreOffice, to get back control: blog.documentfoundation.org/bl #foss #OpenSource #freesoftware

@frumble @Aakerbeere Reichweite im Fediverse gibt es aber nur mit Boosts.
Ich würde mich auch über die Maus freuen!

@FreeCAD success!

A photo of the 3D-printed light saber with a white hilt and a transparent blade. Illumination still missing.

@FreeCAD going for the hilt now. Wish me luck! ✌️

@FreeCAD I have finally printed the blade for my light saber in transparent PLA. I have started optimizing the hilt for printing as well. I have also started on the electronics for illumination but it will take some more free time to complete the project.

#FreeCAD #FreeCADFriday #3DPrint #StarWars

Four tubes printed from transparent PLA on the print bed.The same tubes making up the blade for the light saber. View from below, the blade is much taller than the 3D printer.

@Edwin085 that one looks really effective.

@workchronicles the real problem: often someone else will have to deal with it later and that one might be me. Or you.

@KellicTiger @arstechnica definitely half full, if you actually read the article.

I made a Keystone holder for an Ethernet wall box using @FreeCAD.

It needs a bit fine tuning, especially when the cable comes from below, prying the keystone from its socket.

@maize @timixretroplays I just found my RockBox device from way back when. And no Idea what I am going to do with it. Why not use your phone to listen to music? (Genuinely interested, not baiting.)

@CollaboraOffice stop making us choose. We can have all of that.

Ohi, @FreeCAD! 👋

I have prepared a VESA mount for the upcoming @frameworkcomputer 12 convertible notebook computer. Still waiting for the exact measurements, though.

Two halves will probably be printed from medium or hard TPU to provide a mixture of stability and flexibility. A metal bracket added for extra security.

Screenshot of the complete mount with the device in tablet mode inside. It is a frame of 60% height, leaving the display area visible.The same object without the device, exposing the screw holes.One side of the frame is hidden so you can see the bracket behind that will be bent sheet metal to provide the necessary stability.

@tor @ths4bc @degroof

I have uploaded a parameterized FreeCAD example. You can play around with the parameters in the spreadsheet.

@tor I cannot tell. It is easy to whip them up in FreeCAD and you can control all the details that way ;)
