For Centuries

For centuries, Western art and culture have predominantly depicted Jesus Christ as a white man with pale skin, light brown or blond hair, and blue eyes. This image, while familiar and widely accepted in many parts of the world, is far from historically accurate. Jesus was born in Bethlehem and lived in the region of Galilee in modern-day Israel, a place populated by people with Middle Eastern features.

Repost from “The Wendy Diaries” 2017

It struck me as funny, that when you are young, you want to stay up all night, get by on practically no sleep night after night, and still have the energy to get through a day.  When you get older, you just want to sleep all night, but often cannot! And still don't have the energy to get through a whole day.

If I Get Dementia

If I get dementia, I’d like my family to hang this wish list up on the wall where I live. I want them to remember these things. 1a. Every time you enter the room announce yourself. “Hi Mom- it’s Margaret.”NEVER ask- Do you know who I am??? That causes anxiety. If I get dementia, I want my friends and family to embrace my reality.

Recent trip to Buchan

Although we were a bit late to see the best of the autumn display at the Caves, it is still a very pretty place to visit. While walking after lunch, we came to a little bridge. Us on one side, these two on the other! We waited! Seeing the wildlife in the park reserve is always fun. The Wallabies and sometimes Kangaroo too, will stop and watch as you approach, but will quickly hop away once you get too close.

My Granddaughter

Jade Dulcie ❤️ “An overlap too brief” —from a grandmothers heart I see your fingers, soft and small,Curled like petals, barely sprawled.Your eyes still wide with wonder new,The world, a canvas fresh with dew. And here I sit, in twilight’s grace,The lines of time etched on my face.Your giggle is a morning bell—While I, love, hear the evening knell.

A Poem

A POEM THAT SOME CAN RELATE TOI remember the cheese of my childhood,And the bread that we cut with a knifeWhen the children helped with the housework,And the men went to work not the wife. The cheese never needed a fridge,And the bread was so crusty and hotThe children were seldom unhappyAnd the wife was content with her lot.

Helen Mirren

Helen Mirren once said: Before you argue with someone, ask yourself if that person is even mature enough to grasp the concept of a different perspective. Because if not, there’s absolutely no point. Not every debate is worth your energy. Sometimes, no matter how clearly you express yourself, the other person isn't listening to understand — they're listening to react. They’re locked inside their own beliefs, unwilling to even consider another point of view.

I’m Fine

A farmer named Clyde had a tractor accident. In court, the trucking company's fancy, hot-shot lawyer was questioning Clyde. "Didn't you say, at the scene of the accident, 'I'm fine'?" asked the lawyer. Clyde replied, "Well, I'll tell you what happened. I had just loaded my favorite cow, Bessie, into the—" "I didn't ask for any details," the lawyer interrupted. "Just answer the question, please.

Our possum

This little guy visits us most evenings, coming to eat the new leaves on the Camilia and Avocado trees. He watched me approach, but didn't seem too upset by my presence. But scurried off when the security lights came on!
