It has been a #DinosaurJr morning.
I mostly just post what I am listening to. Classical, jazz, blues, indie, 50s and 60s music, folk, some experimental, and others. He/Him
It has been a #DinosaurJr morning.
Been too under the weather to listen to much. However, in the last few days I've listened to all my other Akiko Suwanai albums. In addition to,
1) Bach's Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Violin, also
2) #Mendelssohn & #Tchaikovsky: Violin Concertos (which I wish was HiRes)
3) #JSBach Violin Concertos 1 & 2
4) #Dvorák and #Sarasate: Works for Violin and Orchestra
5) #Dvorak, #Janacek and #Brahms: Works for Violin and Piano
6) Poème
7) Souvenir
Healing to Suwanai's #violin.
#NowListening to Akiko Suwanai's recording of Bach's Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Violin.
I have many, many recordings of Bach's Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Violin. Akiko Suwanai's is the best.
But don't buy the SACD. It doesn't sound nearly as good as the 192kHz/24bit #HiRes album. I have both and I will swear to this.
My favorite #NeilDiamond song, "Solitary Man." I had this on vinyl back in the day. When I found a Diamond collection in #HiRes at 192kHz/24bit I promptly bought it.
This collection also has "I'm a Believer," "Craklin' Rosie," and "Girl, You'll Be a Woman Soon"
This is a joke. I understand youth were getting more into #ClassicalMusic, but as I understood it, @TheConversationUS, it was nothing more than a fad that passed. This entire premise is sad, misguided, inappropriate, and so misses the point of what music is.
Reviews about anything music related, be it topical, or even about equipment, always miss the point.
Cluelessness wins the day over and over and over.
Paul Simon says he is ‘beginning to’ accept his hearing loss

Welcome to the world of the Hard of Hearing (#HOH), Paul.
#NowListening to #CamilleThomas The #Chopin Project, Trilogy.
So-called critics are full of it when they say they can listen to a #MilesDavis album and tell such and such album was a precursor to such and such album. Yes, if you really want to you read into developing styles and developments, BUT, that doesn't takes away from the fact that Miles Davis was not a predictable man. He was fully capable, as a musician, of doing anything at anytime. He could create any sound at one period in his life and then something completely different. #Jazz #JazzMusic
Listening to Miles.......

#NowListening Thelonious Monk, Genius of Modern Music: Volume 1
#TheloniousMonk was quite fond of "Carolina Moon." He recorded it many times.
Managed to get 2 or 3 hours of sleep despite a serious case of moody #insomnia and woke with #NaimaBock live bootlegs playing. What a wonderful way to wake up! So calming.

Eric Lu is so relaxing. He has released such great music already. I can't wait to see what his career has in store for him.

Miles Davis & John Coltrane - The Final Tour: The Bootleg Series, Vol. 6
It's groovy. This was actually one of the few #MilesDavis or #JohnColtrane or #PaulChambers albums I was not aware of. I have been collecting Miles and Coltrane collaborations since I was a teen. There is no end. This was a gift I gave myself this payday, along with two other albums, since it is so close to my birthday.

What's love got to do with it? An exception to the recognition of musical themes
https://phys.org/news/2023-09-exception-recognition-musical-themes.html
"Music can take on many forms in cultures across the globe, but Yale researchers have found in a new study that some themes are universally recognizable by people everywhere with one notable exception—love songs."
What a wonderful gift this late evening. #NaimaBock released a #LeonardCohen cover on #bandcamp.
I'll just sit here and wait for the new #FolkMusic revival.
