QRV on HF, VHF, UHF, Satellites
Grid: ML88lj

2025-06-12

Activated grids BP47 , Coldfoot Alaska and BQ50, Deadhorse Alaska as KL7/VU2TUM

Worked on SO-50 and SO-124. Heard stations on RS44.

Not so much success on HF yet. Still have a few more days. Maybe that works as well.

I got an email from someone asking for my "Essential Trigonometry for Calculus" cheat sheet, which I give to my calculus students. So, I thought I'd put it on GitHub for anyone to download (compiled PDF and source code). github.com/divisbyzero/Essenti

@kb9ens @dj3ei @oh8hub yes. I meant T130-2. I did 27 turns and then at tap at 15. This way, should be able to use 40/30 meters without changing the length of the whip.
Thanks for your input.

Fedi friends in #geospatial / #GIS / #OpenStreetMap!

I am looking for some more contracting work. I can be your OpenStreetMap domain expert / trainer / community liaison, I can help you with geospatial APIs / data modeling / ELT, I can consult with you on geospatial technology or product strategy.

I prefer longer term engagements, but if you just want a week or two of my time to work through a smaller project, that's great too.

You can find my résumé here: ma.rtijn.org/

@AstroHawk We saw these in Scotland in December 2023. At first glimpse throught they were the northern lights, only to instantly realise that we were looking west. Then realised that these were the noctilucent clouds.

@dj3ei @oh8hub @kb9ens
As a second antenna, I built a POTA Performer.
I have a 5.1 m whip which is good for 20m & above.
As per Pacific66 calculator, I need to add 8uH coil for 40m. Can I use a T13-2 (red core) toroid for this?

A glimpse at about 10 min ago in .

A serene nighttime view of a calm body of water under a darkening sky. Stars are visible, and faint lights from a distant shoreline illuminate the scene and a faint pillar of aurora streaming up.

I was happy to help Filippo out and annotate the beautiful still of his image (non-annotated version sent to @apod as I really think it is worthy).

You could do so much science communication from this one image:

- galaxies (plural!)
- aurora
- stellar evolution
- nearest system

This is such a beautiful image!

Stunning work from Filippo Rivetti!

#Astrodon

landscape image looking out over a cliff to the ocean. The sky has the Milky Way arch hanging over it, and to the lower right, above the ocean and hugging the cliffs are the bright red and orange aurora australis. The image is annotated with features of the Milky Way galaxy.

@dj3ei @oh8hub @kb9ens I packed 20.12m wire for 40m EFHW with. 5.18 m for counterpoise. I won’t have a tuner, so for WARC, I shall fold the wire
Thanks.

Another #WSPR #PicoBalloon heard. This time it was a very familiar visitor KY4EOD. His balloon has been hears a few times before. So long! Hope to catch it during next circumnavigation.

@dj3ei @oh8hub @kb9ens Yes KL7 is Alaska. Thanks, I still have time. I can plan for 40 m.

2025-06-02

@df2jp Thanks, for the bear spray link. Very comforting!
😉. I actually don’t know how to use one.

2025-06-01

@dj3ei Thanks - the decision against 40 m band comes from 20+ hours of day light. That’s the only reason. I will be 60 deg north.
What are your thoughts
