😅 please indulge a quick rant about why chatbots aren't the future of interfaces
A wonderful article by @wattenberger about her work exploring the limitations of chatbot interfaces, and the potential for new ways to interact with LLMs.

@judell the suggestions need a bit of tweaking, but I really like the idea of allowing users to have a back & forth on specific suggestions! Especially if they teach something or feed back into future suggestions
@rzen thanks Brian! I wish the "slow" part were a bit faster 😅
I nominate the logo as the next-gen Clippy
some weekend progress on my AI writing buddy tool
✨ controls describing the piece to help guide suggestions
✨ filterable suggestion types
✨ a more expansive-feeling style
✨ and most excitingly! I made a cute lil logo for a new ChatGPT-suggested app name
after extracting the icon paths, I replaced the green colors with CSS variables, which are populated with one of four sets of colors
I spent some time collecting adorable icons from http://svgrepo.com, then recoloring them in Figma with a set of 5 greys and 3 greens.
another day, another ✨ extra ✨ feature for my WIP article
I wanted example cards with icons that:
- were one of a small number of colors and shapes
- looked like things you would find outside a window
I'm also really digging these "related concepts" - something I've always wanted while writing.
sometimes we need praise, too!
@judell this is great! I'm planning on adding things like "who are your favorite writers" as a way to help steer suggestions - I appreciate these examples!
@scriptautomate thanks! It is, I'll try to be more regular about it!
I have some really fun directions planned for my little AI writing tool, focused on slowly teaching better writing style.
I'm increasingly bullish on using AI to help us think harder, lifting ourselves up, instead of using it as a crutch
When combining AI + data viz, it's really interesting to explore where you add structure and where to take advantage of AI's "creativity"
