this will be a tragedy because this 'AI' is not fit for purpose - in time we'll realise LLM's can't do jobs, can't research or curate information, or write fiction worth reading and that image generation methods produce derivative results in a medium that thrives on novel experiences and reinvention
as the ai fantasy crumbles, what will remain is that we will have given permission to big tech to take from everyone and commercialise what we made without consent, attribution or compensation
my stance on generative ai is that when trained on stolen work its output must be considered commercially unusable
the danger of machine learning ai is that the heavily financed, sustained pr campaign being waged right now might push people past this point, that in return for a "fun tool with lots of potential" we'll collectively concede that somehow copyright comes off when you pour everyone's work into a big enough bucket
