How to Insert Cc and Bcc Mail Headers, but only Conditionally!, in message-mode christiantietze.de/posts/2025/

TLDR: `message-default-headers` accepts a function and you can use that to encode the condition.

@dsmasterson @al3x You have to either explicitly select, paste, share, or take photos. Those get copied to the sibling directory.

@ellane So nice to see. Thank you. As an org fan, I’m delighted I may ease entry for folks!

TIL there's a `markdown-narrow-to-subtree`. Makes #lmno blogging in #emacs feel a little less busy.

```
markdown-mode
(map! :map markdown-mode-map
:localleader
:desc "Narrow to subtree" "n" #'markdown-narrow-to-subtree
:desc "Widen from subtree" "w" #'widen)
```

@mbjones 🤩 Thank you for the great post! I really appreciate the time put into it and all the wonderful things said about Journelly (if you don't mind, echo in an App Store review? 😅🙏).

I've filed feature requests for both items you mentioned:

1. Custom metadata
2. Templates/presents of sorts

ps. Love the aesthetics of your blog! We have similar taste (oh and thank you for the LMNO.lol mention).

@woolsweater Thank you! That's wonderful to hear. Put it on an App Store review, if you haven't already 🙏

I hear ya on in-app purchase. Let's see how things develop over time.

> With your blessing I’d like to add that you are happy for those seriously interested in Journelly to join the Test Flight group.

I'm okay with it as long as accompanied with a caveat of "as long as he's is able to" or someting like it.

Oh and maybe for folks to consider supporting through the App Store (if able to) if they draw value from the app (they can switch between App Store and TestFlight fairly effortlessly). Hope that makes sense.

> Would it be possible to create a web app demo version people could try?

Hmmm... interesting idea! If I could somehow expose the simulator on the web (ensuring everyone gets a fresh session), it could offer a faithful copy/taster. I'd otherwise worry about keeping the two versions in sync.

> Ah. Freemium is complicated.

I've offered free apps before, and they often generate quite a bit of extra work for me (lots of support), even more feature requests, and in many instances, little user intention of upgrading to support the effort. It also opens the flood gates for App Store reviews and the famous 1-star ratings if preferred feature isn't provided :/ Bots can be a problem too. My habits app got multiple 1-star reviews for "being too political" 🤷‍♂️.

@ellane

My goal for Journelly is to make it appealing to a wider group than my previous org apps, including:

1. Org fans.
2. Markdown fans.
3. Non-techies.

1. and 3. are already possible. I see non-techie folks using the app on a regular basis. While I love org, there aren't enough of us to make 1. sustainable long term. 3. is already possible, but I need exposure (your help as users is super appreciated).

2. is relatively straightforward. I need to implement it ;)

Certainly!

> With no freemium offer it’s going to be a hard ask to keep getting the sales @xenodium needs to keep new features coming.

Ah. Freemium is complicated. More on that later, but I just want to highlight I've never turned anyone away who asked to join TestFlight as a free option on any of my paid apps.

@twelvety thank you! That’s really nice to hear. I toss all sorts of things into mine too! I started save way more things as a result.

@wiljames @pixelate It’s a fair question. I hope Journelly’s features can answer that, but ultimately users decide if the the features are worth it to them.
