Anyone ever fixed an Exabyte 8mm drive?
I've got an 8500 which seems to power on but locks the SCSI bus and has both LEDs stuck on. I need to make a CTS cable and see if it responds to console commands - just wondering if anyone had seen this before.
It's in a #Sun SCSI full-height enclosure with a dead power supply, so I'll need to fix that too.

Interesting insight (at least to me) - you can see the day where the #sun no long rises above the local horizon in #winter and when it finally starts to hit the #SolarPanels again in #Spring - its basically in line with what I was guessing before putting the system in. #Sigenergy #Solar #Ireland #Seasons #Sun

A line chart showing daily solar production in kilo-watt hours, between September and February. It shows a significant drop off to a more or less average level between 7th November, and 29th January, with average daily output increasing after that date.

Views of a sunbow over Valentino Pier last Friday, just ahead of this weekend’s arctic freeze. Barely edited — I didn’t think I could really improve on this magical light.

A view from a pier overlooking the waters of a wide bay. A halo of pale light arcs high over the setting sun as it shines over a strip of dark clouds. Below, golden crepuscular rays fan out in a luminous band before being obscured by more gray clouds at the horizon. Directly beneath the sun, a column of sunlight sparkles on the water. In the foreground are guardrails flanking the pier’s snow-covered walkway as it recedes to some lampposts at right frame.Another view of the sunbow over the pier. The strip of gray clouds obscures the sun itself, without diminishing the halo above or the crepuscular rays below — a strikingly dramatic effect. Directly below the sun is the silhouette of a wooden pillar rising out of the bay, surrounded by the glow of the sun sparkles on the water.A third view of the sunbow over the pier, with the sun hidden behind the head of a lamppost as the halo arcs overhead. Sunlight glows around the lamp head as the lamppost’s lower half is framed by sun sparkles on the water. To the left is a wooden pillar in the bay; to the right is the pier’s snow-covered walkway, with a bench facing the water and the far shore.Last in a series of views of a sunbow over a wide bay. A strip of clouds obscures the sun without dimming the arc of the halo above or the crepuscular rays below. In the foreground is a section of a park, with clumps of plants poking out of the snow-crusted ground. At left and right respectively, a low warehouse and a snow-covered pier push out into the water.

I remember sending away for a #BeOS 4.(something) demo CD and being amazed. But it never swept the home market like Wintel, or the corpo market as a high-end workstation like #Sun or #SGI, or a rapid-development platform beloved by academia like #NeXT. Thank goodness for #HaikuOS.
