This was originally about #4s2023 but now it's about #chi2024, too.
Stop holding conferences in Hawai'i. And especially stop doing it if a purported component of your societies' missions is about the interplay of values anf justice in conducting and constructing science and technology.
Like… What are we doing? Large swathes of native Hawaiians have continually asked tourists to stop coming to the islands. The intertwined ecological, political, and economic impacts of tourists on the islands and the rights of the people are MASSIVE.
Stop this.
🚨Abstracts are due this coming Friday🚨
@kathleengregory and I have put together a #4s2023 panel: 'Caring for, sharing, and reusing data as emic STS practices.' We welcome submissions reflecting on data management, data sharing, data reuse, and data description *within* STS research, as well as real/imagined infrastructures supporting such practices.

While on the themes of #4S2023 and #rewardandrecognition, colleagues at @cwts also have an Open Panel exploring what the struggles and solutions around R&R look like in #STS, where they ask: 'What do we understand R&R to mean? What are we and are we not recognizing/rewarding? What methodologies/infrastructures are we building to make visible what has traditionally been invisible?' https://4sonline.org/news_manager.php?page=31518 cc/ @alexrushforth @sarahderijcke

Or are you interested in joining me as a cochair? Or maybe even sharing stories from your research that's aligned w/ these idea(l)s?
