Asa Asika says Davido’s 5IVE Alive tour proves local demand

Key Points

  • Asa Asika says Enugu stop shows Nigerian fans still want full shows. He notes planning and teams made it work.
  • He explains the 2025 run was planned city by city across Nigeria. The goal is to build a repeatable tour model.
  • He thanks sponsors, Plug staff and Davido’s crew for bold support. He says other stars can copy this.

Davido (David Adeleke) has taken his 2025 5IVE Alive run to Enugu. His long-time manager Asa Asika says the stop proves Nigerian dates still work. He stressed that real touring must start at home.

Asika posted backstage photos from the Enugu soundcheck on Saturday. He praised the team for careful planning that moved the show city by city. He also pointed to Davido gifts Enugu fans as proof of strong fan hunger.

He said Afrobeats now plays to global crowds, yet home fans still matter. According to him, Nigeria can stage full tours despite patchy venues. The key is early routing, tight budgets and crews that travel.

How the idea started

Asika revealed the tour talk first happened with Davido in 2017. They wanted a run that would return the star to core Nigerian bases. He said 2025 finally gave the right window.

He described this Enugu outing as the third city on the schedule. Each stop is meant to test security, gear, power and ticket funnels. He believes this year’s map can guide future Nigerian legs.

Asika added that Nigerian fans built Davido’s present reach. So the team felt it was time to go back and play for them. He said the tour is their thank-you run across the country.

Why the Enugu stop matters

The manager said the crowd response in the South East was strong. He noted that sponsors and state partners helped them finish the build. That support, he noted, is what makes a local tour real.

He also pointed to earlier October announcements to show the plan was public. The wider 5IVE route already listed Nigerian cities for late 2025. That layout sits beside the global leg still set for Atlanta.

For him, Enugu proves one thing: Nigeria can carry a premium Davido show. It only needs the right field teams, right vendors and clear comms. He urged other Afrobeats acts to try the same model.

Asika thanked every partner who “took this bold step” with the team. He praised Plug staff and Davido’s crew for moving gear and people. He said this is how culture is pushed forward nationwide.

He then reminded fans that he has toured the world for years. Yet he has also visited over 20 Nigerian states for work. That mix, he said, is why he trusts the domestic market.

To frame the tour for readers, Asika said the aim is scale. The team wants a circuit where stars can sell across Nigerian cities. He said this run shows that path is open. For background on the tour scope, see tour spans six Nigerian cities.

The manager ended by saying the infrastructure is “far from perfect”. Still, he believes planning and patience can close the gap. He said Enugu is the clearest proof yet.
