This morning felt like a Dolly morning.
As a Dolly Parton obsessive, it’s the late #60s and early #70s albums of hers that blow my hair back the most.
From Hello, I’m Dolly in ‘67 up to Love Is Like A Butterfly in ‘74 is the run that made me fall in love with her as a kid. My uncles and Aunts were country obsessive, and Dolly was a big deal for all of them. Clearly, they knew what they were doing with the 6 year old me.
Bubbling Over is a great one for me; it’s got two great Porter Wagoner songs in “Afraid To Live And Afraid Of Dying” and “Love You're So Beautiful Tonight”, as well as the wonderful title track.
I’m not ready to live in a world SANS Dolly. It’s gonna be a very dark day for me when she passes.
