How To Curve Trace Through Rapid Shutdown

The general understanding in the solar industry is that it’s impossible to curve trace through module-level rapid shutdown devices, but with the right equipment, it’s 100% possible.

For this video, I used an APsystems RSD-Start kit for APsmart rapid shutdown devices (not in stock anywhere I could find), and a Fluke SMFT-1000, but you aren’t limited to using these tools to accomplish your task. Any curve tracer should work, as long as you use an appropriate transmitter box to turn on the RSDs first.

If you want to build your own (affiliate links ahoy), here’s a general shopping list:

• APsystems Transmitter-PLC with single core
• Capacitor
• Battery bank
• Box-attachable DC socket
• PVC box with DIN rail and cable glands
• An interesting option if you want box-mounted connectors. Be aware that these are probably not technically compatible with MC4, but it’ll work for this purpose.
• Tigo transmitter, if you want to make this for Tigo instead

If you want to make the box for a generically rated Sunspec system, I’d honestly just try sticking with the APsystems transmitter, it’ll probably work.

Kennt sich jemand von Euch mit #Wechselrichter n von #APSystems aus? Ich habe an meiner #Balkonsolar Anlage einen #EZ1D an dem nur an einem Eingang Module angeschlossen sind. Kann es sein, dass sich das Limit für die maximale Leistung, jeweils 50/50 auf beide Anschlüsse bezieht? Wenn ich das Limit auf die vorgeschriebenen 800 W setze, bekomme ich nie eine Ausgansleistung von mehr als 420 W angezeigt (ohne Leistungsbegrenzung locker 800 W oder mehr). 🤷‍♂️

Beim #APSystems Stand haben wir nicht nur den MdL aus #Utah getroffen.

Sondern bekamen auch den EUHI gezeigt ein #Hybridwechselrichter für den #Balkon. Der Clou er kann mit diversen Batterien von unterschiedlichen Herstellern kombiniert werden.

Das ist erst mal ein vielversprechende Ansatz und wir hoffen doch auch mal hier ein Testgerät zu bekommen. Außerdem konnten wir uns da jetzt erst mal mit diesem Hersteller vernetzen.

I've been using it for a bit already and it really filled a gap, solid work! 👏 Question: What's the safest way to migrate from the old HACS based integration to the native HA one without losing history stats, particularly on the energy dashboards, any idea? Maybe it makes sense to add a paragraph around that to the original (archived) GitHub repo, also? Thanks again, good job!

To all the people using the #Apsystems #Balkonkraftwerk: I've got the integration now merged into @homeassistant core! So you should remove the custom one from HACS in the long run as it will not receive any support anymore.

Seid heute ist mein #apsystems nicht mehr erreichbar. Es sieht so aus, als hätte es sich die Firmware aktualisiert und dabei vergessen die lokale API wieder zu aktivieren. Habe mich per Bluetooth verbunden und das korrigiert. Die Fritzbox zeigt das Gerät an, dennoch komme ich nicht mit Postman auf die API und natürlich kann sich #Homeassistant auch nicht verbinden. Hat das Problem noch jemand? Bitte boosten…

Every time I check for progress on my #HomeAssistant PR for adding support for the #APsystems EZ1 inverter, I get pissed. I've put a lot of time into the PR I've been waiting for a review since over a month and that one guy says he doesn't have time for that, but still reviews other PRs. I mean, I can't judge, he's also just a volunteer, but I still feel a bit cheated on. The other thing is that HA is (kind of) a commercial project and they ask me to review 2 others PRs to get my work merged.
