I'm not a seller, but I've bought a lot of books at #Alibris. It's easy to find what I'm looking for, and I haven't had any problems.
I haven't tried #Biblio.
I stopped buying from #AbeBooks because they're owned by #Amazon

I need to downsize my library and I'm getting ready to sell a ton of my #cartography book collection. I'm looking at both #Alibris and #Biblio as good options. Does anyone have any experience using either platform and any recommendations for either one? I'm also looking at #AbeBooks but none of my stuff is really that old or rare, and AbeBooks seems to have higher fees than the other two.

Dear independent bookshop on #AbeBooks with millions of books carefully updated by price-setting scripts, I don't know how you figured out that 0,55 € is a price I'm willing to pay for the extra service of "buying directly from your website so I don't give a cent to Amazon", but yes, you're perfectly correct. Once again I placed my order.

People looking for #Amazon alternatives (including subsidiaries like #AbeBooks): just received 6 second-hand books from World of Books (UK, also shipping in Europe): excellent price, 1 like-new, 4 good condition, 1 I wouldn't call "very good" as described. But still, great way for books to find a second life!

I think a credit card dispute is your best bet.
By the way, #AbeBooks is owned by Amazon which seems to enjoy making everything shittier.
I've ordered lots of used #books from Alibris.com and received great service.

I ordered a book from a US used-book store via #AbeBooks, paid for it and received nothing. The seller says they sent it and refuses to offer any compensation. AbeBooks offers no way to file a complaint or even grade the seller. What do I do now?

Surprising: #AbeBooks just had a major frontend refresh. (This is always a scare, because #Amazon.) JavaScript is now required almost everywhere, Stripe resources are loaded on every page. My "saved for later" list briefly vanished but returned on the next load. For now functionality seems preserved, but I don't dare to test my scrapers.

For specific #OutOfPrint or #UsedBooks I used to buy from #AbeBooks. Then I found out Amazon owns them too. I think #Alibris is independent. I would like suggestions for used and out-of-print book sites that treat sellers fairly.

The #heritageopendays display had some interesting pieces, but I had to come home and research more on #MarchCost mainly if her books are available! And there are reprints on #AbeBooks I really don't need more books though... I think something for a present wish list #books #reading #author

Second hand book just arrived #AbeBooks following a Facebook post from a local artist, I thought I should learn more about #Basquiat - and started reading straight away as the book arrived while I was making coffee! #graffiti #StreetArt

For clarification, I've never had issues with #abebooks before, so I suspect this is some sort of system glitch, but it's something to be aware of all the same.

Something to beware of when ordering via Abebooks:

I searched for a book and clicked 'Add to Basket' on the first listing that came up. The price was around £8.

But on the payment page, the price of the book had increased to about £20.

Going back to the listing, I found that opening it revealed the true price. But the false price caused it to come higher up the search results.

There was actually a much cheaper offer for a better quality listing of the same book.

I ordered a copy of Simone deBeauvoir’s book - ‘America Day by Day’ from #AbeBooks. The gentleman didn’t mention anything about the #book other than it was in readable condition.

This is an editors proof copy. Before a First Edition 😳 Ladies and gents, I think I just found a piece of literary #history 🥳

I found this book by accident through #AbeBooks #history We know my Grandad was in The Signals, #WW2 Dover + Belgium. I was recommended a book a while ago - turns out to be very expensive now. But this cropped up for £10 so I thought it might be interesting. Well Sergeant Smith turned out to be a cheeky chappie!! In terms of helping me: a little bit of an idea of The Signals work. (1/2)

Finished #reading : "Snow Flower and the secret fan by Lisa See" set in 19C China. I was buying another book second hand #AbeBooks online and it said that seller had cheap books ( said book arrived with much previous wear, so low price). I didn't know what to expect, but I really enjoyed this. Except the foot binding section which was painful to read.
Unsure what to read next - I have A Pile + two non fiction also on the go...
