AmiguruMay day 3: Introduce yourself

Little Bear Crochets consists of two people, J & A, but the social media accounts are mostly me, A, the designer of the team. We're both introverted and very private people, which is why we don't show much of ourselves, hahah 🙈 We've been together since 2012 and we married in January of 2020 (which is where the first picture is from!). We live in Belgium and we love going on outdoor walks together. I get extremely excited about every insect I see, J maybe less so! 🤭

I learned how to crochet in 2010 and started designing my own crochet patterns in 2015. It feels strange that it's been 10 years already... I enjoy fiber arts of all kinds, but I'm especially fond of the slow pace and cuteness that comes with amigurumi crochet. Observing an amigurumi and seeing each individual stitch, I love how well you can see that every plush is a labor of love and patience. 🥰

I have to keep my HSD (hypermobility spectrum disorder) in mind when crocheting and working, which is why I have been and probably will be absent for periods of time. It's a slow journey of learning and adapting my workspace and habits -frustrating, but it is what it is! When I'm dealing with an injury or low spoons, J holds down the fort. I'm grateful we have the opportunity to work together like this. 💙

Hello, I’m Nick (they/them), an avid knitter and crocheter based in Bristol, UK and it’s Day 3 of #amigurumay: introduce yourself, so here’s a close up of me covered in crochet friends!

I’ve been knitting for about 14 years and crocheting for just 1, but I tend to crochet more than knit these days because it’s easier to do on the go! Amigurumi are probably my favourite things to crochet, and I make a lot of octopuses/sea creatures (the tentacles are so much fun!), Pokémon (currently working on designing a few of my own), fantasy things and queer stuff.

Projects I’m working on at the moment include:
• A little Spinarak bag
• Drifloon
• Spheal (this one is basically done, I just have to sew the spots on!)
• Duplicat (Fakémon from Pokémon Uranium)
• A One Ring Scarf (this one is a knitting project)

Outside of fibre arts I’m a professional photographer (amongst having a few other jobs), and I like using that as an excuse to take overly artsy photos of everything I knit and crochet. Amigurumay is kind of a treat in that regard, because it kind of feels like it gives me the opportunity to combine two of my major creative outlets in fun ways.
