45min to change a tube on the rear wheel (motor hub) of the #BikeFriday tandem, with a few bike racks as a work stand 😞 slime tube 👎 weak valve stem, I'm going to stick to conti with the metal stem. #BikeTooter

It's amazing how much faster the #bikeFriday tandem is with the fixed-geared #GrinMAC motor (max speed 22mph, maybe needs a field-weakening adjustment) vs the #supercargo with 350W 13mph assist w/clutch. No stoker/passenger, mostly downhill, but up Terwilliger to Condor, up Ankeny to the 20s. The heavier bike will go faster downhill but weaker motor vs mostly doing 20mph the whole time made 10-12 min difference even with me putting in much more work on the supercargo, cooler day etc. #eBikes

The Bike Friday Haul-a-day is such a versatile bike. It carries two kids or two bikes or heaps of cargo. It can stand vertical, fits on a train, it can extend and contract for different sized riders and come apart for packing.

I love this thing.

TIL 8-speed freewheels exist, and even maybe 11-34t ones, which would be wider range than the 11-28 cassette on my #bikeFriday tandem project. I was given a direct-drive motor with the thread-on freewheel mount that I thought would only be useful up to 7sp. Am I hallucinating, #BikeTooter? Are sellers listing things as "freewheel" because they don't know it's a cassette, or did sunrace etc actually start making these for the #eBikes motors that don't have a freehub / cassette mount?

Putting a tsdz2 on a #bikeFriday but then he doesn't fold it?? Please tell me that still works #BikeTooter. The hose clamp seems iffy but at least that direction is just holding the motor's weight vs any bumps you hit. The driving force of the motor is counteracted by pressing against the [brake/shift cables] seat tube in this case.

I did some very basic upgrades to my #BikeFriday. In the foreground is a Crane bell from #Osaka. It has the Kanji character for Protection painted on it. It sounds wonderful and they have an even better one in brass. While advertised as an #Omamori bell, they did disclose that these bells haven't actually been blessed by a Shinto priest. I will have to go back to Osaka to take care of that.

A pretty good crowd for the Earth Day #Bike Bus for grownups in #Portland. My route was more straightforward than it looked on the map, and the commute seems doable for sure. What's it like climbing S Corbett with a mostly-charged battery and just me on #BikeFriday #tandem #eBikes project #BikeTooter? The #GrinMAC hub motor is a standard/slow wind in a 20in wheel (top speed ~22mph) and the battery is 52V 14.5Ah, load is probably ~1200W. I was in the middle ring of the 3x8 gearing.

Hey chat, count the teeth on these chainrings (Update: sticky note says #BikeFriday has 30, 40, 52 chainrings with 11-28 on the cassette.)

The horn solo part of this is what I always feel like when riding my #superCargo with both 3x8 trigger shifters mounted on the right handlebar. The #bikeFriday tandem has 3x8 grip shifters, but it has a bigger hub motor with the throttle on the right side, and my 13yo stoker can't let me get it into the little ring, you have to let off and shift just at the right spot #BikeTooter
