The thing about a wheelhouse is not so much that it has a wheel as that it's got windows.
#boatyard

View out across the boatyard.
Apols for the butchers' apron in shot but maybe its edge is getting ragged as their gammony notions of empire.

A few weeks ago we noticed a burning plastic smell that we couldn't isolate. Yesterday we realized that bilge pump #1 wasn't working (we have redundant bilge pumps). Today we started tracing wires and found part of the problem. I thought the whole point of fuses was to prevent fires! #boatyard

A classic glass fuse and part of the plastic fuse box cover. The corner of the cover is melted and the fuse is badly discolored.

Just getting ready for some red boiler suit action. Or have they been proscribed too already?

Coda, with a little something for all of the old hippies.

View from wheelhouse, sun setting, in. The foreground the bow of a possibly abandoned boat with the name Woodstock

But a room* with a view, just need a taller 'captain's chair' out of a skip somewhere to take fullest advantage. Having started the day waiting for the sunrise it seems only appropriate to end it with the sun setting behind other trees.

*actually (technically) the wheelhouse

First light and sunrise

Hallowe'en, famous Frank Shuttlewood built centreboarder, now under the stewardship of a WhatsApp group 'Hallowe'en heroes', recently relaunched and taking up with just the one pump running 7 seconds on, 13 seconds off...
#boatyard

Per body, an old wooden yacht alongside a pontoon, Marsh and sea wall in the background, and our rowing tender tied up after of it.

Back from a very long row and hugging the shade

View feet up in the shade under the bow. Various shadows cast across ground and on the hulls of boats

The walk from the station only half killed us. Out of London for the heatwave the main thing though.

From yesterday at the edge of the boatyard.Teasels just beginning to pop in among the rape and grasses and not sure what else.
#boatyard #bloomscrolling

Cerise/purplish teasels and yellow flowers on the rape with a background of grass greens, nettle and fennel.

Today’s sketch was in a nearby boat repair yard, what a jumble of stuff. If I had a rust coloured pen with me I’d have added colour. #dailysketching #dailysketchbook #boatyard #rust

Ain't nobody here but us pigeons
#boatyard

The part cut up Llys Helig has become a pigeon roostBagsy this berth when we launch (which is still some time off). View from the rowing dinghy mooring pontoon to the right with a fishing boat tied up alongside, the saltmarsh to the left at high water.

The arid brownfield - to put it mildly - back garden is coming along nicely all on its own. Looking forward to seeing any of the teasels that make it through untrampled.
#TOWIE #boatyard

View between the stern of the boat and the retaining wall, a patch of the boatyard with teasels, grasses, buddlea all doing their very best to thrive.

It's probably time to open up the tent. and make coffee. and do stuff.

Back at the #boatyard. What sort of person names a boat Loyal Governor?
Dreamcatcher seems a more popular choice though.
#AwayWithTheFaeries

Loyal Governor is the name on the bow of this old coasting shipDreamcatcher number one in the yard, recently sold through the brokerage here, has a quite unique interior. Ketch rigged deep bilge Keeler. Very interesting yacht if you like twin keels.Dreamcatcher number two, sloop rigged fin keel Moody 35, serious money.

And the reverse view in the fading light, off the bow of the yachtlet, the new infatuation and mothership to be?

Back to the #boatyard, as first part of an epic jaunt for the Pali flag. It's so
peaceful here of a bank holiday weekend.
#TOWIE

Cloudy sky, pylon, shed, buddlea, the retaining wall of old tyres as permanent formwork. Feet up on a step ladder resting bad knee and newly bad foot (don't ask).

And so, another blissed out #Boatyard evening. Getting ready to cook the three Ps - pasta, peas and pesto. Some snaps from earlier.

Wondering who Crum might've been, who should've lived forever and fucked the pigs, according to the graffiti at the top of the wall of the building to the left. High water neapish at the millhead from the rowing dinghy. Is that a whole bank of self-seeded oil seed rape next to the toilet block on the edge of the boatyard?

Big 'Sonnenuntergang' sky.

View from the stern looking a bit west of north. A line of small clouds showing pink against the fading blue sky.
