Went flying last night with the 172’s owner to do some practice on the avionics and landings. Dropped him off to see his daughter’s softball game and took the plane back to MSN. Lower clouds but really nice night to fly.

Today during a club member’s flight review (First person doing what I am now calling Sam’s Comprehensive Flight Review) I passed 1000 hours total time.
Really happy. This came later than I wanted but still so happy.

WOW! Ok I am blown away but Cirrus now. In the new SR-22 they just added Emergency Auto Land to the G7+. So not only does it have a parachute it has Auto Land. That is game changing for safety. #CFILife #FlightInstructor

So since some have asked. Here is what I have been working on for a Comprehensive Flight Review. The target for this is club/lower yearly time GA pilots.
The idea would be to talk to the pilot ahead of time and fine tune but this gives them a starting point on what we would cover. (link to PDF)

I have spent the last week redoing my Flight Review form from the ground up that I wrote years ago when I got my CFI.
I have added a few things based on the FAA's feedback to us . I renamed it "Comprehensive Flight Review" & also added a statement that "Ground and Flight times will exceed 1 hour each" to set the expectation that it will take longer than the minimum 1 hour of each. Skill = GA/Club pilots
I am thinking of sharing it here for feedback, thoughts?

A bit over a week ago I attended an FAA Safety seminar that was put on by the FAA for the CFIs at C29's FBO. The subject matter was flight reviews AC 61-98E & how CFIs incorrectly are not being evaluators but are being #FlightInstructor during the fight and that needs to flip. Additionally how CFIs are not holding pilots to the ACS standards & some just doing 'a few around the pattern' type reviews. They wanted reviews to result in continuous training It really got me thinking.
Sadly not shocked by this but having a PE firm own the app that I use every flight is a bit worrisome.
